Are you ready to lead a dynamic team helping transform waste management in Edmonton? Reporting to the Director, Business Integration and Technical Services, you will be the driving force behind ensuring our Waste Services Branch has the technical knowledge, equipment, and infrastructure needed to excel. Your leadership will support operations across four Eco-stations, Reuse Center, Compost School, Kennedale Waste Management Facility, and the Edmonton Waste Management Centre.

As the General Supervisor, Operational Planning and Project Development, you will guide a talented team of engineers and technologists, overseeing engineering analysis, project planning, and execution. What will you do?

  • Lead planning and delivery of capital projects for Waste Services in alignment with the Branch's business plan and long term goals, and in close collaboration and compliance with City policies for infrastructure planning and delivery, including oversight of contractors for a variety of small and large scale projects
  • Lead the identification and prioritization of capital projects and development of the capital budget which is a key component of the Waste Services Utility Rate file and capital performance reporting for the Branch
  • Lead engineering analysis activities including the waste characterization program, data analysis, and process optimization
  • Lead innovation and research & development for the Branch, including feasibility and funding of new processes and technologies
  • Oversee engineering services standing arrangements including the work of multiple firms providing services for projects 
  • Anticipate business opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement
