We are excited to invite applications for the Equipment Operator I position within our Snow & Ice Control - Active Pathways team.
What will you do?
- Operate and be responsible for various equipment, including 72” industrial riding mower/broom/blower, smaller riding brooms and blowers, small tractors with blades/snow buckets and various snow clearing equipment used in parkland, facilities parking lots, and bike lanes
- Operate medium and small farm and industrial type tractors with various attachments for snow removal and spring sweeping such as an MT7 and Toolcat
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment
- Perform other related duties as required
- Completion of Grade 10
Assets:
- Experience operating the equipment assigned to the work area, including toolcats, John Deere brooms, trackless snow removal equipment, truck mounted plows and slip sanders and/or low horsepower tractors
- Emergency First Aid Certification
Skills required for Success:
- Ability to operate assigned equipment in a safe manner, including detecting minor defects in equipment as needed
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's Permit is a requirement of this position
- Successful candidates are required to be fit for and wear a respirator on a regular basis, and compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement of this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
Work Environment:
- Night shift
- Ability to work various night shifts including weekends
- Physically capable of performing the duties assigned, including manual labour, including regularly lifting up to 100 lbs, for extended periods of time in diverse weather and environmental conditions
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Ability to don respiratory protection as required

Salary Range: $25.935 - $34.208 (Hourly)
