 1 temporary full-time position for 8 months intended specifically for students currently enrolled in a civil, transportation or related engineering co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience degree program, commencing in January 2025

What you will do: The City of Edmonton's Development Services Branch is looking for a Civil engineering co-op student to assist with the review of land development applications. The successful individual will support the Planning Coordination Unit by applying transportation engineering and planning knowledge to deliver transportation requirements related to land use changes and recommendations that will have short-term and long-range impacts to the City. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with other work areas and improve your understanding of the broader considerations required in the urban planning process.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Apply knowledge of transportation engineering, including transit, active transportation and traffic operations, engineering design and construction standards, to land development applications
  • Provide support in the negotiation of transportation infrastructure requirements with multiple stakeholders
  • Perform periodic site checks to confirm development requirements
  • Assist with the review of Transportation Impact Assessments and other transportation-related studies
  • Participate and contribute to public engagement activities and team meetings
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team while providing service to a range of development stakeholders
  • Respond to inquiries from the general public, other departments, and the development industry with complete and professional information
