Are you a natural coordinator with a passion for bringing immersive, live theatrical experiences to life? Fort Edmonton Park is seeking a dynamic and highly organized temporary part-time DARK Festival Production Manager to spearhead our upcoming season.
In this role, you will be the driving force that ensures our signature festival's technical workflows, timelines, and budgets are executed flawlessly. You will guide an exceptional team of professional technicians and creators, transforming creative concepts into a thrilling reality for our guests. What will you do?
- Review creative plans to ensure that all lighting, audio, site infrastructure, and equipment rentals are successfully identified and acquired
- Formulate and meticulously manage the DARK Production budget and labor schedules within established guidelines
- Directly supervise, onboard, and support the recruitment of the Technical Director and the technical support crew
- Establish and oversee primary production schedules, including delivery timelines, infrastructure builds, permit schedules, and site maps
- Maintain seamless, solutions-focused communication across all internal departments, art divisions, and external community partners
- Provide bi-weekly budget summaries and weekly progress updates to the Event Experiences Program Manager
- Lead daily tool box talks with contractors and technicians to champion site safety
- Actively support event nights by coordinating and supervising the Production unit during live festival activations
- Other related activities as required
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in Drama, Theatre Production, Theatre Design, or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in events, live theatre, or large outdoor festivals
- Demonstrated supervisory experience managing staff and/or contractors within a theatre or production environment
- Strong background in production management or technical supervision in festivals or large-scale venues
- Comprehensive knowledge of audiovisual systems, lighting, set design, and rigging
Assets:
- Experience using production management tools such as Trello to streamline team task distribution
- Established connections or familiarity within the greater Edmonton festival community

- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills alongside strong interpersonal abilities
- Robust budgeting, accounting, and resource-tracking capabilities
- Outstanding problem-solving and conflict-management skills, with the ability to react calmly under pressure
- Proven capability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse internal teams and external collaborators
- Proficiency with digital tools, including Google Suite, Word, and Excel

Conditions of Employment:
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement
- Ability to work a highly flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours/overtime as required by the festival calendar
- Compliance with Safety Sensitive position regulations, including wearing required protective gear (e.g., steel-toed footwear and skin protection)

Work Environment:
- This is a physically demanding, active onsite position that transitions with the festival cycle
- From June to August, the work involves desk-based pre-planning paired with initial site walkthroughs. From August to November, the role shifts heavily outdoors into a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- You will be walking on uneven ground, working in varying weather conditions (including rain, snow, heat, and darkness), and frequently lifting or carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.
- May be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement from June to mid August only with the flexibility to work both from home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement
- This is a public-facing role and requires engagement and interaction with diverse people from various backgrounds with different needs, expectations and emotional states

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Evening, weekends, and holidays required
Salary Range: $39.160 - $49.221 (Hourly)
