Description

The City of Edmonton is looking for a dynamic and passionate Communications Coordinator to join our team! In this role, you will play a key part in advancing Truth and Reconciliation initiatives by collaborating with the City Manager's Office and the Indigenous Relations Office. You will develop compelling content across various platforms, including social media, newsletters and events, to amplify the reach and impact of our reconciliation efforts. This position also involves building strong relationships with Indigenous communities, partner organizations, and community groups through outreach and engagement activities. What will you do?

  • Create videos, take photos, and develop written and other visual materials that promote and inform key audiences about reconciliation initiatives/activities
  • Build a suite of storytelling resources for use in materials (e.g. videos, photos, key messages)
  • Support education, outreach, and engagement activities with Indigenous partner organizations and community groups by attending and profiling events and being an on-the-ground communications resource
  • Develop written and visual (i.e digital) content for social media, web pages, reports, and other products that capture and elevate the story of the impact of reconciliation efforts
  • Build respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and Elders, and sustain and maintain those relationships long-term
  • Develop and implement integrated communications plans and informative material involving cross-functional and cross-departmental teams
  • Draft and proof copy for news releases, public service announcements, backgrounder documents, collateral materials, newsletters, advertising, key messages, speaking notes, council reports, annual reports and other communications materials
  • Coordinate revision, approvals, production and distribution of communication materials (e.g., print, posters, leaflets, brochures, guides, newsletters and advertisements) and liaise with suppliers and colleagues to ensure products meet objectives and specifications, on time and within budget
