TEAM LEADER RESIDENTIAL APPRAISAL WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Team Leader Residential Appraisal position works closely with the Chief Residential Appraiser administrating valuation services within the Real Estate Appraisal Department (READ). The team leader has primary responsibility for workflow management of residential valuation staff to meet service level agreements. The team leader manages residential real estate valuation related services with a national coverage area, providing direction and guidance that ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, regulations, and any additional supplemental requirements or guidance. The team leader collaborates with business unit managers to understand needs and make or recommend adjustments to improve turnaround times, customer service, and quality. This role may have supervisory responsibilities ensuring all processes are implemented to identify and report on various degrees of residential valuation risk. This role must embrace the Bank's culture of industry-leading credit quality and customer service. This key liaison will work closely with and report to the Chief Residential Appraiser. WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Resource for Bank, staff reviewers, and analysts as a residential valuation subject matter expert.
  • Operates as a point of contact for the department by responding to internal inquiries regarding residential appraisal projects.
  • Accountable for staff production-related goals, delegating tasks appropriately to ensure that production is operating efficiently, meeting service level agreements, while ensuring valuation quality and compliance.
  • Continuously seeks out efficiency gaps and opportunities to drive departmental success.
  • Work with and manage workflow of residential staff reviewers and analysts.
  • To screen and assign work to staff reviewers.
  • Mentor, train, and improve skillset of residential valuation staff.
  • Orders valuation reports from approved vendors, clarifying the scope of work for those ordered reports, and delivers completed work to internal customers through the workflow management platform.
  • Review of residential appraisals ordered for the Bank for compliance with FIRREA, using the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines, the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, and relevant job-related supplementary guidance or requirements (e.g. GSE, investor, and Bank appraisal requirements).
  • Work with Chief Residential Appraiser to build and strengthen succession planning, staffing needs, and residential skillset.
  • Work with Chief Residential Appraiser to ensure resource allocation to initiatives.
  • Champion departmental leadership initiatives to align priorities ensuring focus on accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Continuing education to meet all state appraisal licensing requirements.
  • Project management responsibilities, as delegated.
  • This position may be required to manage residential appraisal staff and delegate tasks appropriately to ensure that department is operating efficiently.
  • Performs other duties and requested by the Chief Residential Appraiser.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED? Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience reviewing appraisal reports managing appraisal workflow in CMS.
  • Minimum of 5 years administrative and development experience with Cotality (CoreLogic Solutions) CMS appraisal management platform.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience meeting GSE minimum requirements for appraisals and minimizing repurchase risk.
Additional Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of full-time real estate appraisal experience.
  • Expertise in residential property valuation.
  • Expertise, or the ability to quickly develop expertise, in all applicable investor guidelines (e.g., FNMA and FHLMC), federal regulations (e.g., FIRREA and the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines) and regulations in the states in which the Bank does business (e.g., appraisal licensure requirements and USPAP).
  • Ability to interpret and explain these guidelines and regulations to Bank colleagues.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all appraisal regulatory issues concerning real estate due diligence.
  • General knowledge of banking.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in preparation and presenting information effectively, clearly, and concisely, in written and spoken form to a wide-range of internal and external business partners.
  • Excellent administrative, researching, and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with various appraisal workflow platforms and loan origination systems.
  • Technical expertise with integrating appraisal workflow platforms with loan origination systems a plus.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to identify process deficiencies and streamlining opportunities.
  • Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment with limited supervision.
  • Strong, proven organizational and leadership skills and the ability to establish priorities, delegate responsibilities, promote excellent staff morale.
  • Specialized knowledge and experience with Cotality (CoreLogic Solutions) CMS appraisal management platform.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Compensation Starting base salary: $111,408 - $189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
