ASSOCIATE RELATIONSHIP MANAGER - FOOD & BEVERAGE TEAM:  Chicago, IL., 3 days a week in office *remote not available    WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? Develop and manage relationships with major market Food and Beverage corporate clients with revenues typically greater than $200+ million in the assigned business segment and/or geography. Present a variety of product solutions to client needs. Provide responsive, quality service. Manage overall relationship profitability and portfolio risk and ensure profitable growth of the portfolio assigned. This may be accomplished through active calling efforts and referrals from existing customers, providing the CNB exemplary level of service, identifying and promoting solutions to customer needs, and maintaining an active calling program.

 

What you will do:
  • Identify, develop and build profitable relationships with prospects and customers consistent with the objectives of the bank.
  • Actively work with customers and develop prospects consistent with the credit culture of the bank. Pro-actively identify and work with customers to ensure the credit quality standards of the bank.
  • Research prospects to determine level of fit with the team's target and extensively read up on the food and beverage industry to keep up to speed with current trends and M&A activity.  Attend industry trade shows for prospecting and networking purposes.  
  • Develop relationships and support other CNB departments and colleagues to provide customers and prospects the solutions recommended. Participate in internal and external community activities as a representative of CNB, promoting and attracting new colleagues and customers.
  • Prepare a Relationship Plan and calling schedule for each client or prospect in conjunction with the strategic business development program. Identify business opportunities and solicit referrals of other Bank products or services and/or externally from existing customers, a network of referral sources, and other professionals in the industry. Develop a strong understanding of company, industry, business and needs to assist in customer calling efforts. Set objectives for each relationship in terms of revenue contribution, etc.
  • Call on existing or prospective clients to discuss and promote all Bank products and services in order to establish a total client banking relationship. Discuss financing opportunities and general business conditions; may assist in forecasting clients' credit needs and develop solutions to serve their financial needs. Bring in product specialists as necessary to help problem solve or structure transactions.
  • Negotiate transactions; price loan products within targeted rate of return; document and close loan transactions; ensure conformance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements. Exercise sound credit and risk judgement in approving transactions. Recommend approval when transaction size exceeds authority limits. Ensure the quality of all business introduced to the Bank.
  • Represent the Bank by actively participating in outside civic and community affairs, business and industry-related organizations, and other professional activities as appropriate.
  • Interface with other Bank departments as necessary. Define responsibilities and coordinate objectives for all product areas in a relationship or transaction. Resolve all client needs and any internal issues.
  • Monitor and analyze relationship results and account activities. Determine client profitability. Make a recommendation regarding accounts to be further developed or eliminated. Prepare reports for management.
  • Monitor portfolio for quality, risk and adherence to policy. Work with the appropriate staff departments to resolve issues.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive products, practices, rates and changes in market conditions.
  • Analyze problem credits and meet with clients to develop solutions to minimize loss exposure.
  • Relationships in portfolio may contain numerous accounts requiring extensive operational expertise to manage workflow to match client needs, risk control and maximize cross selling potential.

Must-Have*:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of financial services experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of credit experience required

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Natural interest in specializing in the food and beverage industries.
  • Good understanding of all products and services applicable to target client segment.
  • Good understanding of commercial credit policies and procedures, and bank operations policies and procedures.
  • Strong demonstrated sales and marketing abilities, including cross selling skills.
  • Sound credit analysis and accounting skills.
  • Capable of working well independently and in teams.
  • Must be able to work autonomously in making sound business decisions and exercising appropriate level of authority commensurate with experience and responsibility.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Superior client relationship skills.
  • General knowledge of Bank credit products and underwriting standards required to identify credit opportunities with clients and initiate the credit transaction.
Compensation: Starting base salary: $87,027 - $138,965 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
