We are currently looking for a Vice President, Safety.

Job Summary:

The Vice President, Safety promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment both on the roadways and in the workplace. The position will be an integral part of the organization's leadership team and responsible for regulatory compliance including but not limited to DOT, OSHA and FMSCR. This team member will provide overall leadership and guidance regarding organizational safety policies, programs, driver safety and working conditions to monitor compliance with safety standards, legal requirements, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and monitors a comprehensive safety program including policies, procedures, objectives, and budget.
  • Leads implementation of safety programs and initiatives throughout the company.
  • Consults with all stakeholders on design and use of safety programs.
  • Formulates general safety policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with company, local, state, and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Oversee and manage individuals involved in accident investigations involving company vehicles and or employees.
  • Create and provide a method of measurement for evaluation of safety program's effectiveness.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies when applicable.
  • Communicates and helps to develop accident-prevention programs for incorporation into operational policies of the organization.
  • Identifies and appraises conditions and hazards that could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluates potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents and prepares reports for information of personnel concerned.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of operations department to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
  • Supervise and direct inspections of facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventative measures were indicated.
  • All other duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  Have a record of successful development and implementing risk, safety and prevention programs that reduce risk and injuries and overall cost.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, FMCSR regulations
  • Experience in safety program development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • A current valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to facilitate proactive safety awareness programs.
  • Ability to present statistical data to all organizational levels.
  • Ability to instruct and train others, evaluate and plan the work of others, and act on employee problems.
  • Working Knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word
  •  Advanced Degree

  • Interpersonal effectiveness: able to establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships.  Willing and able to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Communication skills: able to communicate effectively, including preparation and development of clear, concise, and accurate reports.
  • Budgeting skills: able to provide budget input and understand basic principles of preparation and adherence to budget.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills: able to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously
