Join us as a Legal Counsel!
As a Legal Counsel at BMC, you serve as a trusted advisor to business, product and sales executives to drive strategic deals and initiatives with some of our largest customers and collaborative partners. You will draft and negotiate complex legal agreements and work with cross-functional teams of lawyers, finance and accounting specialists, product managers and sales teams to solve legal and business challenges. We welcome your ideas on how to do things differently and better. You will get to work with a highly-collaborative, close-knit team in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:
- Draft and negotiate a broad range of product, licensing, subscription, confidentiality, data privacy and services agreements, as well as partner, distributor, and reseller agreements.
- Performing continuous improvement of standard form agreements, policies and processes.
- Work independently, prioritize workloads and communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization, including senior management.
- Assist with due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions.
- Monitor developments in US government contracting and advising legal leadership accordingly.
To ensure you are set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
- You hold a Law degree and are licensed to practice in good standing in one jurisdiction in the United States or Canada, with at least 5 years of relevant technology transaction experience within an enterprise software/tech company.
- You have US Federal contracting experience with a strong knowledge of US Federal contracting practices and procurement laws and regulations, including the FAR, DFARS, and GSA, as well as familiarity with flow-down requirements and compliance obligations.
- You have a customer-focused mentality and demonstrate the ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate closely with key cross-functional stakeholders.
- You are able to balance multiple challenging responsibilities simultaneously while remaining responsive to internal clients and BMC's customers.
- You enjoy working independently in a fast-paced environment, showing flexibility and an openness to new ways to solve problems.
- You have a solid understanding of the software sales cycle and are committed to supporting the organization through the quarter and year end processes and deadlines.
- You are open to supporting sales teams in multiple regions and time zones.
- US and Canadian Data Privacy certification a plus.
- Familiarity with US Anti-trust law a plus.

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $114,525 - $190,875
