We have over 200 servers on premises to support production, disaster recovery, databases, applications and over 1000 servers in Lab environment. The Software Asset Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for maximizing return on investment across the enterprise's software and technology assets. This role ensures effective lifecycle management, compliance, cost optimization, and operational visibility of software assets through strong ITIL-aligned processes, data-driven decision-making, and modern automation and AI capabilities. The Software Asset Manager partners closely with IT leadership, Service Owners, Procurement, Finance, and Engineering teams to ensure that software assets support current and future business needs. This position plays a critical role in enabling proactive asset intelligence through platforms such as Flexera, BMC Helix dashboards, and Microsoft Copilot and AI agents.
BMC is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our amazing global IS&T team. 
In this role, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our business processes and systems, by collecting requirements from stakeholders and translating them to actionable system solutions. You will be a part of a collaborative global team, while leveraging technology to drive processes and systems efficiency. 
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Software Asset Management (SAM) program, ensuring alignment with IT Service Management and business objectives. • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of software assets, including request, deployment, utilization, optimization, retirement, and disposal. • Administer and optimize the enterprise SAM platform (e.g., Flexera), including normalization, reconciliation, compliance analysis, and optimization reporting. • Ensure ongoing software license compliance by reconciling deployed entitlements against contractual rights and identifying compliance risks and savings opportunities. • Partner with Procurement, Vendor Management, Finance, and Legal to support license renewals, true-ups, audits, and vendor negotiations using data-driven insights. • Design, maintain, and enhance BMC Helix dashboards to provide operational and executive visibility into asset utilization, compliance posture, lifecycle status, and financial exposure. • Develop and report key asset and license management metrics, trends, and insights to IT leadership and executive stakeholders. • Identify opportunities to reduce software spend through optimization, rationalization, alternative solutions, and improved demand management. • Collaborate with IT Service Managers to understand business drivers impacting asset usage and forecast future asset requirements. • Serve as an active member of the Change Advisory Board (CAB), ensuring asset impacts are assessed and asset records are updated accurately as part of change activities. • Track, document, and ensure resolution of incidents impacting asset management tools and services. • Ensure asset data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and audit readiness across all managed systems. • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across asset processes, workflows, tools, documentation, and training. • Leverage Microsoft Copilot and AI agent capabilities to enhance asset reporting, reconciliation, automation, and knowledge retrieval. • Partner with IT and automation teams to identify and safely implement AI-enabled use cases aligned with data governance and security standards. • Develop and maintain asset and licensing knowledge articles, ensuring information is structured and consumable by self-service tools and AI-assisted experiences. • Maintain strict confidentiality of company information and data.
To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience: 

·       6+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or a related discipline.

·       Demonstrated experience managing software assets at an enterprise scale.

·       Strong understanding of software licensing models, including on-premises, SaaS, and cloud-based licensing.

·       Experience with enterprise SAM tools such as Flexera or equivalent platforms.

·       Experience working within ITIL-aligned IT Service Management environments (ITIL v4 preferred).

·       Experience with metrics, dashboards, and operational analytics, preferably using BMC Helix.

·       Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate technical data into business insights.

·       Experience supporting software audits, renewals, and vendor negotiations.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Whilst these are nice to have, our team can help you develop in the following skills: 
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • 5+ years of experience working within one or more IT organizations. • Familiarity with Microsoft licensing and enterprise software vendors. • Experience designing or consuming ITSM and asset dashboards. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and emerging AI capabilities within enterprise environments. • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, finance, and leadership teams. • Comfort working across organizational hierarchies and influencing without direct authority. • ITIL v4 certification or equivalent practical experience preferred. • Experience with cloud cost optimization, FinOps, or SaaS management is a plus.
