Position Summary
The Business Administration Transfer Program at Bellevue College is seeking applicants for an Assistant Adjunct Accounting Professor. Adjunct Faculty are assigned instructional loads on a quarter-by-quarter basis, as needed based on enrollment. There is no guarantee of continued employment beyond a current contract.
Assistant Adjunct Faculty teach at Bellevue College's main campus and may teach online. In addition, faculty hold office hours and engage students actively in their own learning, including discussion, writing, and analysis; maintain high standards regarding course content; and provide students with timely feedback on their course work and examinations. Adjunct Faculty in the Business Administration Transfer Program report to the Dean of Social Science.
Pay, Benefits & Work ScheduleAdjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
Quarterly remuneration for 5-credit lecture class is $6,418.75 - $7,824.66. Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.
Generous benefits package for eligible employees is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter.
In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the DepartmentThe Business Administration Transfer Program's mission is to guide our students' knowledge and skill development as they work towards attaining a two-year associate degree and transfer to upper division coursework. Most program graduates earn the Associate of Arts in Business degree and transfer into an AACSB accredited business school baccalaureate degree program. The Associate of Arts in Business degree is the second highest enrolled program at Bellevue College.
Courses in the department consist of Financial and Managerial Accounting, Business Statistics, and Business Law.
Our program has a diverse faculty who have a wide range of academic qualifications, industry certification, and decades of industry experience.
We have over 10 faculty, including six certified accountants and three licensed attorneys. Our program offers online and on campus courses including Accounting, Law, and Statistics. Essential Functions- Teach Business Transfer courses using a variety of modalities, as required (financial and managerial accounting)
- Create a teaching and learning environment of the highest academic quality and academic integrity using a variety of instructional styles and delivery formats.
- Implement comprehensive and pluralistic curricula that meet the needs of diverse students in a competitive, global business world.
- Promote teaching and learning excellence in the Business Transfer program through engagement in continuous improvement
- Assess student learning outcomes using a variety of assessment methods
- Provide ongoing guidance for students¿ career development
- Participate in advising students and improving student success
- Participate in college governance in accordance with the Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Perform related duties as required.
- Master's degree in Accounting or related field and professional licensure (CPA, CMA, CGMA, or CA)
- Two (2) years relevant work experience
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups
- Relevant teaching and/or training experience
- Current knowledge and skills in accounting
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral presentation
- Ability and willingness to adapt to changing teaching schedules and situations
- Demonstrated ability to relate to students and staff of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities
- A commitment to a culturally diverse learning environment
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Enthusiasm for teaching learners at many levels in business transfer and related business subjects
- Active interest in business transfer and related business subjects
- Ability and willingness to adapt to changing teaching schedules and situations
