JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Responsible for the day-to-day management, operation and accountability for clinical information systems in the hospital network, including the planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance. Makes decisions, within guidelines, that could seriously affect the division, department and/or GHS System's financial and performance objectives and strategic results. Direct reports may include team leads, and/or staff employees including responsibility for performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. Performs duties for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

 

 

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

JOB FUNCTIONS

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

 

 

1. Management responsibilities

· Maintaining the scope, schedule, and quality of the project in their specific application area or team Setting clear expectations for team members, including defining what they should do at each phase of the project

· Working closely with the project director and other project managers to coordinate activities

· Ensuring that the business community is engaged in the project

· Advising and coaching team members by providing guidance on project issues, key success factors of the project, and lessons learned

· Sharing with team members the positive effects of innovation and system capabilities

· Reinforcing the importance of the project together with the executives and the project director, and providing consistent communication to the project team

· Organizing resources within the organization

· Motivating and showing appreciation for the team

· Appropriately matching team member skills to team responsibilities

· Managing the project from an organizational perspective while attending to detailed tasks

 

 

 

2. Core responsibilities

· Assisting as a support contact for their area Identifying and troubleshooting issues

· Guiding workflow design, building and testing the system, and analyzing other technical issues associated with Epic software

· Serving as a liaison between organizational needs and Epic implementation staff

· Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings

· Working with Epic representatives, your organization's business community, and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs in regards to the project deliverables and timeline Developing an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows Participating in training and working with end users

· Reviewing the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership

· Holding weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones

· Owning integrated efforts that span multiple applications such as BCA, Cutover, HODs, and so on

 

3. Demonstrates effectiveness in directing the activities of the department.

· Ensures staff members adhere to policies and procedures necessary to achieve department objectives.

· Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with management and other departments.

· Maintains an effective performance improvement program.

· Manages supervisory and department staff members.

 

 

 

4. Demonstrates effectiveness in controlling the daily activities of the department.

· Reviews the daily productivity of the department.

· Provides management and policy interpretation to supervisors.

· Communicates effectively and expresses information clearly.

· Encourages staff participation and communication in decision-making.

· Exhibits responsiveness to others in the organization at all levels.

 

 

 

5. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: medical record without limitation, patient demographics, lab results, patient financial and 3rd party billing information, patients related complaints, information related to patient location.



Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Previous experience in clinical applications, preferably in a health-care setting

Supervisory experience strongly desired.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in a technical field strongly preferred.

 

 

 

SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Epic certification in an application in their area

Strong technical background.

Ability to use critical-thinking skills to make assessments on need and feasibility of implementing applications.

Strong project management skills.
