Summary of Position:   

Provides rehabilitation services support (PT, OT & Speech) to patients utilizing established policies and procedures. The Rehabilitation Aide will support rehabilitative care delivery by preparing treatment areas, patients, equipment and materials; performing procedures, under the supervision of a physical, occupational or speech therapist. Assists the rehabilitation therapists in the provision of care utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care.  Services are provided based on the ages of the population served; Children through geriatric and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of all patients served. Assists teams to meet patient treatment goals through therapeutic exercise, physical modalities, positioning, lifting, transferring and maintaining equipment including cleaning and decontamination.  In addition to clinical duties, Rehab aides will assist the office staff with clerical duties as required for daily operational excellence.  The Rehab Aide is under the supervision of the Rehab Therapists and reports to the Director of  Rehabilitation Services, Rehabilitation Manager and Lead Rehab Aide.

Qualifications

Education

● Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution 

Experience:

● Academic and practical work experience in an allied health or rehabilitation environment preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

● Sufficient computer skills as are required to work within the electronic health record system. 

● In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Bilingual abilities preferred

● Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and effectively manage and prioritize conflicting demands.

● Ability to maintain a professional demeanor while assisting in the delivery of care for all patient populations

● Ability to multitask

● Interpersonal skills, with a customer service focus

Certifications/Licensure:

● Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date

● Exercise Coaching or Personal Training Certification, preferred

Essential Functions

1. Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.

2. As directed by licensed staff, provides care in a manner that is safe and sensitive to the rights and needs of each patient.

3. Prepares treatment areas, escorts patients to treatment areas and prepares the patient and applicable equipment for treatment.  

4. Assists with treatments under therapists supervision

5. As directed, performs specific therapeutic treatments in accordance with established protocols

6. Takes direction and recommendations from the therapist. Only provides care pursuant to specific instructions by the therapists relative to the treatment plan

7. Recognizes unusual conditions outside of his/her expertise and seeks the guidance of the therapist.

8. Maintains established supply levels to include:

a. Linens

b. Assistive Devices

c. Wound care products

d. Office supplies

e. Equipment needed for therapy modalities

9. Works collaboratively with other department staff to ensure that department activities are efficient and meet the needs of the customer.  

10. Assists with administrative and clerical duties (e.g., scheduling, answering phones, etc.)

11. Operates equipment and performs job-related duties in a safe manner. Ensures proper functioning of equipment and follows procedure when equipment malfunctions. 

12. Cleans equipment according to sound infection control practices and established procedures.

13. Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary.
