  • Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care.
  • Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.
  • Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing the care of patient's depending on their needs and any changes in their condition.
  • Assesses patient's understanding of surgical procedure/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching.
  • Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
  • Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health.
