POSITION PURPOSE:

This key role will supervise and direct the financial reporting and accounting activities of assigned hotels, currently Arizona Grand Resort, La Playa Hotel and Hotel Carmel. This includes, and is not limited to: the safeguarding of hotel assets and prepare financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts; providing financial guidance and support to Executive Committee members in achieving financial targets of revenues and expenses; and balancing accounting requirements with customer service and operational effectiveness. This individual will be a key leader and contributor to the long-term strategic planning of the company.

Target Percent

of Time:Primary Responsibilities:

30% Hire, train, supervise and direct accounting staff to ensure accurate accounting and timely reporting of financial data for assigned reporting entities of Marc & Rose Hospitality, to department heads, hotel management, corporate office, and owners in accordance with established policies and procedures. Oversee and direct the daily reporting of detailed statistics, revenues and payroll expenses. Monthly financial statements should be targeted for completion and distribution by the 15th of each month, based on transaction cutoff by the 10th of each month.

30% Ensure the timely completion of all Balance Sheet account reconciliations according to established standards, within 30 days after the end of each calendar month. All accounts must balance to the general ledger and other supporting ledgers, fully supported with backup, all reconciling items cleared within 30 days and all reconciliations updated to the Blackline platform.

10% Assist and support the Corporate Director of Finance with compiling and exporting GL data required for budgeting and forecasting processes of the Marc & Rose Hospitality reporting entities as assigned and directed.

10% Ensure that all licenses, permits and insurance policies are current and are in compliance with local, state, and federal laws. Monitor all contracts and agreements and advise hotel management of the terms, conditions and upcoming expiration dates. Ensure hotels are in compliance with all federal, state and local governmental rules and regulations. Report irregularities and non-compliant situations to the Vice President of Finance in a timely manner. Ensure that the best financial and legal interests of the hotel, management company and ownership group are protected at all times. Seek legal advice, if deemed necessary, from the Corporate Counsel.

10% Provide Marc & Rose Hospitality and Grossman Company Properties financial teams with weekly cash reports, detailing all incoming deposits and outgoing payroll and accounts payable disbursements.

10% Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard hotel assets. Maintain adequate internal control over revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities of the hotel and ensure accounts are maintained according the GAAP and Uniform System of Accounts. Educate and advise hotel staff and management on the value and benefits of internal controls.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of primary responsibilities, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of assigned properties.

Oversight responsibility of computer networking operations and computer applications within the hotel.

Attend departmental meetings to keep apprised of other operations and provide input to enhance the department’s operation.

Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Corporate Director of Finance, Vice President of Finance or the Corporate Office.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a B.A. or B.S. degree in accounting.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have 3-5 years' experience in Hotel Accounting and be

Familiar with Uniform System of Accounts for hotels.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

None.
