SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER - Memory Electrical Validation Lead 

 

THE ROLE:  

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Senior Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market. The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.  

 

THE PERSON:  

As a Systems Design Engineer, you will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions. In this high visibility position, your software systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root cause resolution.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

  • Define electrical validation strategy for memory IO interfaces - LPDDR5, DDR5 to achieve optimized electrical performance and meet product production goals.
  • Lead Memory EV execution team and Validate circuit analog performance, electrical signal integrity compliance to industry standard specifications, and system level margin for stable operation and production target prediction.
  • Interact with SI teams to ensure correlation of measurements vs simulations
  • Capture of S-parameters and TDR using VNA
  • Define requirements for validation and margin optimization and analyzes, validates, debugs, and optimizes FW steps and values to optimize margins and quality.
  • Conduct and participate in multidisciplinary research in the design, development, testing, validation, and utilization of memory IO and mixed signal architectures inclusive of industry standard datacom applications and custom Intel interfaces.
  • Develop procedures, analysis, and designs for validation, validation infrastructure, and systems margin validation.
  • Perform debug to identify root causes and resolves all functional and triage failures for electrical issues.
  • Test interactions between various electrical design features using validation infrastructure.
  • Prepare validation specifications, evaluates IP, and generates test reports.
    Ensure products conform to standards and specifications.
  • Present data and analysis to technical forums.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

  • 10-12 years of hands-on experience in Memory Electrical/Analog Validation such as signal integrity and signal margining validation.
  • Strong understanding of SI fundementals and High speed design concepts , SI Simulation experience is a plus. 
  • Debug techniques and methodologies 
  • Experience in Mixed signal IP electrical validation.
  • Proficiency in DDR5/ LPDDR5 or any High speed Serial IO is a plus .
  • Extensive knowledge in handing High Speed oscilloscope and conducting complex Measurements 
  • Programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python) 
  • Extensive experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strateg
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details 
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering
