THE ROLE:

AMD's Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) designs, builds, and delivers industry‑leading technology platforms that power the world's most advanced cloud, AI, and telecom infrastructures. We develop cloud‑enabling server platforms and system solutions that allow the world's leading companies to transform ideas into reality at global scale. Our customers are forward‑looking, and so are we continuously innovating to stay ahead of the next technological challenge.

As part of the Data Center Platform Engineering organization, the Staff Product Development Technical Program Manager will lead the management and execution of AI server and hyperscale server platform programs with significant customer and business impact. This role is responsible for driving system‑level hardware execution across the full product lifecycle, from early product definition and architecture through design, validation, production release, ramp, and end‑of‑life.

The ideal candidate will operate as a system‑level leader and integrator, coordinating complex, cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, manufacturable, and scalable server platforms that meet aggressive schedule, cost, and quality targets.

THE PERSON:

You are a hardware‑focused Technical Program Manager with strong system‑level instincts and the ability to lead highly complex programs that span electrical, mechanical, power, thermal, reliability, compliance, manufacturing, and supply chain domains.

  • You work closely with System Architecture, Engineering, Reliability, Compliance, and Business and Account Teams to translate platform requirements and product specifications into clear, executable hardware programs with well‑defined milestones, risks, and deliverables.
  • You lead cross‑functional hardware execution teams to plan, develop, validate, and launch server platforms on schedule, ensuring alignment across engineering, firmware/BIOS, manufacturing, quality, operations, and supplier organizations.
  • You excel at driving clarity in ambiguous environments, defining program structure, execution plans, and decision frameworks that enable teams to move quickly while managing technical and operational risk.
  • You are comfortable operating at multiple levels from detailed hardware execution reviews to executive‑level program discussions and can clearly articulate tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • You bring a strong ownership mindset, proactively identifying issues, driving resolution across organizations, and holding teams accountable for delivery without relying on formal authority.
  • You naturally mentor and influence others, helping raise the bar for program rigor, system‑level thinking, and execution excellence across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own system‑level technical program strategy and execution across feature delivery, product quality, and continuity of supply, balancing technical trade‑offs, customer requirements, and business priorities across the full product lifecycle.
  • Lead triage and debug activities, driving root‑cause identification and issue resolution to closure while escalating risks as needed.
  • Drive cross‑functional alignment between Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain, translating platform capabilities, system constraints, and roadmap strategy into executable plans that support customer commitments and business outcomes.
  • Lead execution of highly complex, multi‑disciplinary system solutions, spanning Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), mechanical architecture, power and thermals, operating systems, BMC, BIOS, solution software, diagnostics, validation, and test while coordinating internal teams and external vendors to meet cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
  • Act as a system‑level integrator, ensuring alignment across hardware, firmware, and software architectures, proactively managing inter‑team dependencies and surfacing systemic risks early.
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and scalability requirements, partnering closely with manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to enable production readiness and long‑term lifecycle sustainability.
  • Establish and lead core execution mechanisms, including weekly program reviews and milestone checkpoints with global, cross‑functional stakeholders, driving accountability, resolving escalations, and ensuring on‑time milestone delivery.
  • Identify, assess, and communicate program risks at the system level, defining mitigation plans and driving cross‑functional hardware and software solutions to minimize impact to schedule, cost, quality, and supply continuity.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing clear, data‑driven program status, decision trade‑offs, and escalation paths for high‑impact system and execution issues.
  • Own program governance, documentation, and communications throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring timely, accurate dissemination of decisions, execution status, and deliverables to internal stakeholders, customers, and partners.
  • Define, track, and publish program metrics and KPIs, using quantitative insights to support execution reviews, continuous improvement, and program health reporting.
  • Lead Bill of Materials (BOM) strategy and execution from early prototype through production, facilitating BOM reviews to ensure technical integrity, cost optimization, supplier readiness, and alignment with manufacturing and sourcing strategies.
  • Partner with engineering and configuration management teams to manage BOM lifecycle transitions, ensuring disciplined change control, traceability, and alignment from preliminary design through high‑volume manufacturing.
  • Mentor and influence other Technical Program Managers and technical leads, elevating execution rigor, system‑level thinking, and operational excellence across the organization.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience owning system‑level hardware programs across the full development lifecycle, from architecture definition and early prototyping through production ramp and sustaining.
  • Strong technical depth in hardware systems, including experience with one or more of the following:
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑functional execution across hardware engineering, BMC/BIOS, manufacturing, quality, operations, and supply chain teams.
  • Experience driving design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability, working closely with manufacturing engineers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
  • Hands‑on experience managing Bill of Materials (BOM) lifecycle, including prototype, pre‑production, and production stages, with disciplined change control and configuration management.
  • Strong program leadership and communication skills, with a track record of driving alignment, resolving escalations, and influencing without formal authority across multiple organizations.
  • Data‑driven decision‑making capability, including defining and tracking hardware execution metrics, risk burndown, and program health indicators
  • Customer-facing experience, supporting launch readiness, field quality investigations, or hardware execution discussions with strategic customers or partners.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Advanced degree (MS) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
