Senior Engineering Manager – Automation (Data Center & SPSE)
AMD India (SPSE) is looking for a strong Manager to lead an Embedded Software Automation team to lead and deliver modular, quality oriented, and extensible FW infrastructure. It involves managing resources effectively to deliver commitment on schedule. Cultivate a high performing team and constantly raise the bar. Ability to attract, groom and retain top talent is a must.
Closely collaborate with peer development teams, architecture, customer support and product line management. As a key member of the Engineering management staff, contribute to the vision and strategy of continuous integration, improved development processes, quality and productivity improvements.
The Role
We are searching for an Senior engineering leader to drive the integration of Automation of Dev OPS, CI/CD, Kubernetes & Artificial Intelligence into our firmware, architecture, and system design practices. This role bridges advanced AI capabilities with core server, GPU, and SoC firmware technologies, enabling next-generation compute solutions. You will guide a highly skilled team of architects and engineers, shaping how Automation coupled with AI accelerates firmware development, validation, automation, and customer experience.
You will partner with system architects, firmware developers, validation teams, and other AI/ML experts to ensure AMD's data center platforms deliver secure, scalable, and intelligent solutions. The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and leadership experience, enabling them to influence roadmaps, mentor teams, and champion Automation-driven transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of talented software engineers based in Bangalore, improving build-test pipelines to enable faster feature delivery.
- Collaborate with global teams, including product management, feature teams, and release teams, to optimize automation strategies.
- Work with key stakeholders across multiple global locations, including Bangalore, Penang, Taiwan & Austin Texas.
- Drive automation strategies, ensuring scalable, resilient, and deterministic pipelines that seamlessly integrate into CI/CD workflows.
- Address test flakiness, enhance pipeline stability, and improve test determinism, reducing delays in feature rollouts.
- Lead by example, contributing hands-on to design, development, debugging, and making development pipelines robust.
- Mentor and develop engineers, fostering technical excellence and career growth.
- Define and leverage key metrics to refine automation processes, track efficiency improvements, and optimize release cycles.
Cross-functional Leadership: Drive collaboration across firmware, silicon design, software, validation, and AI/ML research teams to accelerate adoption and innovation. - Continuous Improvement: Establish metrics and processes that demonstrate AI's impact in improving efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- AI adoption: Serve as a champion for AI adoption, mentoring teams and influencing AMD's position as an industry leader in AI-enabled firmware.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in test automation technologies.
Preferred Experience
- B.E, or B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of technical management experience, leading software engineers while remaining hands-on with software development, test automation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in building Automation frameworks
- Strong experience with at least one of the three major hyper-scalers (AWS, Azure or GCP).
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes.
- Experience with Backend and API automation with Python or equivalent.
- Working experience with Go programming.
- Experience with CI/CD processes and tools - Jenkins, Terraform etc.
- 15+ years of software development experience in Python, Golang, or similar languages, with expertise in microservices, REST APIs, pytest, and developer tooling.
- Proven expertise in managing projects throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Deep understanding of automated test frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable build-test automation
- Experience in troubleshooting and managing complex automation systems
- Ability to foster collaboration across software and Hardware teams to enhance developer efficiency
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills in scaling test infrastructure, building tools, microservices, and improving pipeline performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to executive stakeholders
- Prior demonstrated experience of working with global engineering teams partnering with key stakeholders across NA, UK, EMEA & APAC regions
Academic Credentials
- Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced coursework or practical experience in AI/ML preferred.
