THE ROLE: 

 

AMD Datacenter Firmware team is currently looking for Senior Firmware Engineer who is passionate about Server products and would like to be part of our EPYC journey to transform the x86 server market. In this role, you will design, develop, and debug low‑level firmware that enables next‑generation hardware platforms. You'll work closely with silicon, hardware, and system engineering partners to deliver robust, secure, and high‑performance BIOS/UEFI solutions.

 

 

THE PERSON: 

The successful candidate brings a blend of deep technical skill and strong cross-team collaboration. You should be comfortable representing BIOS/firmware considerations with architects, developers, validation teams, and customer-facing engineering groups.

You can clearly articulate design intent, explain complex problems, and drive solutions across multiple engineering disciplines. Strong organization and a proactive approach to identifying, communicating, and resolving issues will be key to success.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain UEFI/BIOS firmware for new hardware platforms
  • Analyze, triage, and resolve customer-reported or validation-found firmware issues
  • Contribute to design reviews, provide technical feedback, and support internal development best practices
  • UEFI/EDKII BIOS development experience mandatory
  • C and ASM programming experience mandatory
  • Desire to work and excel in fast-paced and highly dynamic environments

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • 5+ years of experience developing UEFI/BIOS firmware
  • Strong proficiency in C programming and familiarity with assembly (x86 preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with EDK2/UEFI PI, ACPI, PCIe, memory initialization, and BIOS boot flows 
  • Knowledge of server BIOS architecture encouraged
  • Knowledge of software development process methodology expected
  • Strong analytical skills and debug methodology required
  • Proficient with source version control systems like Git or Github and code review tools like Gerrit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
