Job Role and Responsibility: AMD is hiring SMTS Systems Design Engineers to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Drive the process of optimizing power and performance attainment for CPU products. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Provide feedback for system measurements and improvement areas to the various teams, including the power management architecture, IP, SoC, O/S, FW, and silicon enablement teams. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multilayered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires four (4) years of experience in the following:

1.Performing hardware verification;

2.Performing system validation for Power and Performance of semiconductor products;

3.Product validation cycle from planning, implementation, execution, debug, and troubleshooting;

4.Functional verification of microprocessors;

5.Unix or Linux environments;

6.C, C++, Python, or Shell;

7.CPU and x86-64 architecture;

8.Linux or Windows internals; and

9.Software debugging using macOS, Linux, or Unix.
