Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring SMTS Software Development Engineers to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Plan, design, develop and/or test software systems for software enhancements and new products. Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies. Set operational specifications and formulate and/or analyze software requirements. Serve as technical leader across project or departmental boundaries to develop ASIC/layout design, working on issues that impact design or selling success or address future concepts, products or technologies. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various Xilinx products.

Travel required: Position requires up to 10% of domestic and international travel.
Qualifications: Degree required
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and six (6) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
Position requires four (4) years of experience in the following:
- C or C++ programming on Linux platform;
- Developing embedded system software;
Position requires two (2) years of experience in the following:
- Developing software for Infotainment platform or Automotive ESU (Ethernet Switch Unit), which includes BSP;
- Utilizing ARM JTAG, and ICE and Lauterbach debuggers;
- Debugging using JTAG debugger & protocol analyzer; and
- Linux device driver and board bring-up development.
