Silicon Design Infrastructure Hardware/Software Engineer
THE ROLE:
This is a great opportunity to develop and maintain world-class software for designing hardware in a fast-paced production environment on the very edge of modern technology! The Central CAD team at AMD writes software to automate a hardware design flow that makes it easy to efficiently use the thousands of cores and terabytes of RAM in AMD's data centers. We work with various design teams who use our software to construct next-generation GPUs, CPUs and APUs with industry-standard EDA tools.
THE PERSON:
You enjoy figuring out how things work and modifying them to work better. You are constantly helping other people with their technical problems and then improving the system to avoid issues in the future. You are a team player with excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers, as well as with other business units across different sites and time zones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, are detail-oriented, and are willing to learn and ready to take on new challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Maintain and improve AMD's hardware design flow software
- Technically support design team members as they construct AMD's next generation chips
- Develop new and more efficient ways of using computers to design silicon
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Strong software background with proficiency in Perl, Python, Tcl, and/or shell scripting
- Demonstrated use of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar) to enhance productivity and automate workflows
- Experience with Linux/Unix system administration
- Experience with EDA tool usage and scripting
- Experience with version control systems (Perforce, Git, or similar)
- Experience with job scheduling systems (LSF, Grid Engine, Slurm, or similar batch systems)
- Experience with regression infrastructure or CI/CD systems (Github Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
- Experience with database administration (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar)
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
