This role requires business‑level fluency in Mandarin and regular interaction with China‑based customers. Applications without Mandarin proficiency will not be considered.
AMD is looking for a seasoned systems engineering professional with a strong hardware foundation and the ability to operate at the intersection of server platforms, networking, storage, and AI GPU solutions. You will collaborate closely with AMD Instinct platform architects, system designers, and firmware teams to help shape scalable, rack‑level AI systems that deliver exceptional performance and business value for our customers.
You will be a key contributor within the Data Center GPU, Customer Technical Readiness Leadership (CTRL) organization, performing systems engineering work with a focus on networking and storage considerations at the rack and system level. The role involves deep engagement with MDCs, OEMs, and ODM partners as we jointly develop and deploy best‑in‑class AI infrastructure solutions.
THE PERSON:
As a leader in AI Customer Enablement, you will serve as a primary technical interface for China‑based customers deploying data centers in the United States. In this high‑visibility role, you will help translate customer workloads and business requirements into system‑level technical guidance, support product definition, and provide expertise during execution and issue resolution.
You are comfortable operating in a global environment, communicating complex technical topics clearly in Mandarin, and navigating ambiguity as customer requirements and system designs evolve.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze system level requirements for China-based customers, doing feasibility analyses and translate them into technical requirements for AMD Instinct® rack scale products.
- Ability to translate data center business and usage models into a set of system hardware features and requirements.
- Shape the overall technical direction of our AI solutions through customer insights gathered during concept and pre-sales timeframe.
- Provide architectural guidance and support to internal systems design teams to develop reference designs.
- Develop and drive design review processes of our customer's platform designs and flag areas that could be modified to improve quality, performance, or other areas key to their competitiveness.
- Provide strategic oversight for our AMD participation in industry consortiums, driving forward key AI initiatives.
- Drive future product architecture influence, leveraging insights from deep customer execution engagements.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in server platform hardware design with a specialized focus on networking and storage.
- Experience in data center and rack level network designs (scale-up, scale-out, front-end and management networks) and storage solutions to meet AI and cloud service user SLAs. Knowledge of switching architectures, backend fabric designs, data center networking and network and storage provisioning/issues/triage/resolution is highly desirable.
- Experience translating user/service SLAs into Compute, Memory and Storage capacity needs and working with customers to influence available hardware/supplier selection to optimize system performance, availability, and cost vectors.
- Familiarity with a variety of NICs and switches, their associated form factors, key suppliers, protocols, datacenter network architecture, networking and storage industry standards.
- Familiarity with in-server and networked storage solutions, along with a deep understanding of system requirements that these different storage solutions drive.
- A track record of working closely with customers, engaging in dialogue to understand their needs and aligning our product development accordingly.
- Experience working with ODMs & OEMs and MDCs in delivering complex solutions at scale.
- History of influencing architectural direction through product execution learnings.
- Business‑level fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is required, as this role primarily interfaces with customers based in China
