THE ROLE:  

This is a key role in post-silicon system power and performance engineering on AMD client products, including workstation, extreme high-end desktops, APU desktops, and mainstream mobile processors.

You will act as end-to-end system design engineer for post silicon power management firmware variables tuning of power and perf optimization perspective,  and further development and optimization from first silicon to production.

 

THE PERSON:  

The person needs to be passionate and self-motivated for deliveries and innovation, leadership demonstration, also with good communication skills.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

  • This role will lead AMD's new APU/CPU power management features variables tuning  based on AMD power management firmware,  candidate needs to find/develop different methodologies to finalize the test plan and plan execution for new features power and perf optimization, find out best perf/watt or power/ perf friendly setting based on requirements.
  • The candidate will have product responsibility for the power and performance aspects of new product development in all the phases of product development, analysis and debug power management features' related power and perf issues, be the initial point of contact for the other AMD engineering development teams on all power and performance issues.
  • The candidate will program manage the technical resources necessary to execute the test plans.  The candidate is responsible for reporting out the power and performance status to the program level technical community. 
  • In the event of customer power and performance issues, the candidate will be the technical liaison in support of resolution.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

  • Candidate must have adequate knowledge of CPU, GPU, and system architectures and their implications on silicon & system power and performance.
  • Power management experience/ Firmware optimization/Board development experience is a great plus.
  • Knowledge in BIOS, device driver, application software, benchmark software, and how they interact with hardware is preferred.
  • Hands-on lab experience with a focus on power and performance data collection and analysis. 
  • Excellent program management and communication skill is required (both verbal and written), including Mandarin and English.
  • In this position, key performance skills include decision making, problem solving, teamwork, and communication.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

  • Bachelors 7+ years or Masters degree 5+ years in electrical or computer engineering
