THE ROLE:
The Cable, Connector, Mechanical & Liquid Cooling Supplier Quality / NPI Engineer is responsible for driving supplier quality management, NPI readiness, manufacturing process control, and reliability validation for AI server platform components. This role works closely with Engineering, Thermal, SI, EE, ME, Manufacturing, and supplier partners to ensure successful product qualification and mass production readiness across cable, connector, mechanical, and liquid cooling technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supplier Quality Management
- Lead supplier qualification, process audit, and PPAP/FAI readiness activities.
- Monitor supplier quality performance (yield, DPPM, 8D closure, OTD) and drive corrective/preventive actions.
Define inspection criteria and quality gates for:
- High-speed cables and connectors
- Mechanical assemblies and thermal modules
- Liquid cooling components including cold plates, manifolds, QDCs, tubing, pumps, and CDU systems
- Review and approve PCN/ECN, process changes, and material substitutions.
- NPI & Manufacturing Process Control
- Support EVT/DVT/PVT builds and manufacturing readiness activities.
- Collaborate with SI, EE, ME, Thermal, Reliability, and Manufacturing teams on DFX/DFM reviews.
- Develop CTQ, SPC, Cpk, and quality control plans for mass production.
Lead supplier-side troubleshooting for:
- Open/short and continuity failures
- Connector retention and plating issues
- Signal integrity and impedance concerns
- Mechanical fit/interference and tolerance stack-up
- Thermal and liquid cooling leak/failure issues
- Validate liquid cooling manufacturing processes including leak test, pressure test, flow verification, and cleanliness control.
- Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate FA activities for electrical, mechanical, and liquid cooling failures.
- Review FA reports and validate root cause, corrective actions, and recurrence prevention plans.
- Drive DOE, PFMEA, Lean/6σ, and process improvement initiatives.
Support reliability qualification activities including:
- Thermal cycling
- Shock/vibration
- Salt spray and corrosion testing
- Pressure cycling and environmental stress testing
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
10+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, or Reliability Engineering.
Experience with:
- High-speed cable and connector products (PCIe Gen5/Gen6, CXL, QSFP, OSFP, etc.)
- Mechanical and thermal assemblies
- Liquid cooling systems and components
Familiar with:
- IPC-620 / IPC-610
- PPAP / FAI / SPC / Cpk / 8D / DFMEA / PFMEA
- Leak testing, pressure testing, and thermal validation methods
- Connector plating/material analysis and reliability testing
- Experience managing suppliers and driving technical reviews in high-volume manufacturing environments.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's degree or above in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Materials Engineering
- Thermal Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Or equivalent technical discipline.
