THE ROLE:
We are seeking a highly motivated Financial Analyst – Product Costing to join our Global Operations Finance team. This role will focus on product cost analysis, inventory reporting and financial decision support for AMD's global manufacturing and supply chain operations. The analyst will partner closely with operations, supply chain, and procurement teams to ensure accurate product costing, margin analysis, and cost optimization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance product costing models to support quarterly, annual, and long-range planning, with a strong focus on COGS and unit cost analysis.
- Analyze product cost drivers, including yield, test time, and manufacturing variances, and provide actionable insights to improve cost efficiency.
- Support standard cost setting, cost roll-ups, and cost updates, ensuring accuracy and alignment with operational changes.
- Prepare and reconcile inventory and cost-related accounts, ensuring accurate valuation and financial reporting.
- Execute month-end close activities related to product costing and COGS, including accruals, reclassifications, and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and procurement teams to provide financial guidance on cost reduction initiatives, supplier pricing, and manufacturing efficiencies.
- Support ad-hoc analysis, reporting, and special projects related to product margins, cost optimization, and business decisions.
- Ensure compliance with AMD's financial policies, standard costing methodologies, and internal controls.
- Prepare clear financial inputs and insights to support management and executive decision-making related to product cost and profitability.
- Identify opportunities to streamline product costing and reporting processes through automation and best practices.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of experience in financial analysis, with a strong preference for product costing, manufacturing finance, or operations finance.
- Hands-on experience with product costing, standard costing, COGS analysis, or inventory accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and financial planning or costing tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex cost data into clear insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with data visualization or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Snowflake) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, global manufacturing environment.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or equivalent.
