LOCATION: Austin, TX

ONSITE: This role requires the student to work from the Austin office throughout the duration of the Co-op/Intern term.

 

PROGRAM TERM:
Fall: Start Date Aug 19th or Sept 9th, 2024

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • You will be responsible for writing high-performance GPU kernels for AMD's Machine Learning and Deep Learning Library: MIOpen
  • You will be porting and optimizing algorithms for new GPU hardware
  • You will build, run, and analyze performance of benchmarks and application on GPU accelerated platforms.
  • You will assess the capabilities of development tools and runtime environment in terms of capabilities, performance, and usability.
  • You will explore the benefits of different code optimization techniques.
  • You will perform code reviews, build unit tests, author detailed documentation related to their work, and work with on-site and offshore teams to deliver the software solutions on schedule.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • tools, APIs including Python, C/C++, sh/batch scripting
  • You are familiar with computer architect and GPU architect.
  • You have experience using version control software such as Git.
  • You have basic knowledge of software development lifecycle, SW practices including debugging, test, revision control, documentation, and bug tracking.
  • You have exposure to deep neural network machine learning technologies and modern machine learning programming frameworks.
  • You have experience working with and developing virtualization containers and package managers for code deployment.
  • You have familiarity with Linux command line.

 

WHAT WOULD SET YOU APART:

  • You have knowledge about BLAS operators and GEMM optimization.
  • You have experience with CUDA programming and CUTLASS preferred.
  • You have some experience using AMD or Nvidia GPU compute products.
  • You are familiar with performance analysis, hot-spot identification.
  • You have experience developing GPU kernels, analyzing and quantifying benefits of GPU offloading.
  • You have experience using build tools (make, cmake) and containers (Docker, Singularity).

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
