The Director will drive alignment across customer executive teams and AMD Business Development, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and Support organizations to accelerate customer ramp, remove deployment barriers, maximize customer success, and influence future product and platform strategies. This role requires exceptional leadership through influence, strong technical credibility, and the ability to navigate highly complex customer environments without direct organizational authority.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is an experienced customer-facing executive with a strong track record leading large-scale datacenter infrastructure programs involving hyperscalers, cloud service providers, AI infrastructure companies, and enterprise customers. They combine deep technical understanding of GPU-based computing environments with exceptional program leadership, executive communication, and customer relationship skills.
They thrive in ambiguous and fast-moving environments, build credibility with customer executives and engineering leaders alike, and drive alignment across large cross-functional teams to achieve business-critical outcomes. Experience leading deployment and operational programs for AI infrastructure, datacenter platforms, cloud services, or high-performance computing environments is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the executive program lead for AMD's largest and most strategic hyperscale, CSP, and AI infrastructure customer engagements.
- Own end-to-end customer success for complex datacenter GPU deployments, from platform definition and development through cluster bring-up, performance optimization, production deployment, and operational maturity.
- Build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders, serving as the primary escalation and coordination point for business-critical deployment initiatives.
- Drive alignment across AMD Engineering, Product Management, Business Development, Sales, Operations, and Support organizations to ensure timely execution against customer commitments.
- Lead cross-functional planning, issue management, risk mitigation, executive reviews, and deployment readiness activities for large-scale customer programs.
- Define and track key customer success metrics, including deployment velocity, production readiness, utilization, uptime, performance, issue resolution effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate technical engagements supporting platform development, proof-of-concept activities, validation, performance tuning, software integration, cluster scaling, and production ramp.
- Serve as the voice of the customer within AMD, influencing hardware, firmware, software, ROCm ecosystem, and platform roadmaps based on deployment experience and emerging customer requirements.
- Lead executive-level incident response activities and drive resolution of complex technical and operational issues impacting customer deployments.
- Develop deployment best practices, governance frameworks, operational playbooks, and reporting mechanisms that improve execution consistency and accelerate time-to-value.
- Represent AMD in executive customer reviews, strategic planning sessions, industry forums, and key customer engagement activities.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant experience in customer program management, technical program management, engineering, product management, customer success, or related technical leadership roles.
- Experience leading large, customer-facing technical programs in datacenter infrastructure, AI/ML platforms, cloud computing, accelerated computing, or enterprise systems.
- Proven success working directly with hyperscalers, CSPs, AI infrastructure providers, OEMs, ODMs, and enterprise customers.
- Deep understanding of large-scale GPU deployments, AI training and inference environments, datacenter operations, server architectures, networking, storage, Linux, virtualization, containerization, and performance optimization.
- Experience driving complex programs from proof-of-concept through production deployment and operational scale.
- Strong executive presence with experience influencing customer and internal leadership teams without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to lead highly complex cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, product, operations, support, and commercial organizations.
- Experience defining and managing executive-level KPIs, deployment milestones, risk management processes, and operational reviews.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication skills.
