THE ROLE:
The Technical Sales Lead is a critical customer facing position as part of the Amazon global sales team, tasked with ensuring the customer's entire technical experience with our products is top quality from concept to production. It will be this person's responsibility to position the optimal technology from AMD's entire portfolio, architect the most competitive solutions alongside the customer's key technologists and drive joint innovation efforts to maximize business opportunities for our company. At AMD, we are relentlessly customer focused, and it is the Technical Sales Lead's responsibility to own the results of the entire engineering engagement and delight the customer.
This role requires both frontline technical leadership skills to most effectively address customer engineering challenges and corporate leadership skills to motivate and guide internal product engineering resources to effectively deliver differentiated solutions and resolve customer problems.
Any candidate must have proven senior technical support experience with a track record of successfully guiding customers through complex architectural and development cycles. He/she must have excellent cross-functional collaborative and influencing skills, must be able to build trusted customer relationships at senior engineering levels, and win the confidence of the entire technical organization.
The Technical Sales Lead will contribute to customer strategies and work in tandem with the broader customer sales team. The candidate must have experience selling complex semiconductor devices, full-stack software solutions, and rack-scale systems to customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure a “customer first” mindset and own the results of the customer's technical satisfaction
- Develop and maintain deep relationships with key architects and engineering leaders/influencers at the customer
- Work alongside the business sales team to uncover and understand the current and future technical demands and opportunities to grow revenue
- Partner with the customer's key technologist to architect the most innovative solutions to drive both AMD and customer growth
- Represent the technical needs of the customer into AMD and be able to quickly understand their complex technical challenges, synthesize, and articulate back to the company
- Represent AMD's most complex technical capabilities to the customer and formally present deep hardware, software, and solution level details of the offerings
- Respond quickly to the technical problems of the customer and lead the team to resolve as a first line of defense
- Judiciously yet effectively lead the AMD product management team to effectively resolve customer problems while balancing internal resource drain and customer experience
- Take full ownership of the engineering engagement with the customer to ensure the best experience possible
- Assists the sales leader to develop and maintain sales account strategies and opportunity plans
- Demonstrate strong partnering with the product management team and key internal technical support personnel to maximize AMD's success with customers
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- High software and hardware acumen, experience debugging software code and development environments, experience debugging board level issues, customer support, presenting technical details, building trusting relationships, a strong understanding of deep learning frameworks and architectures
- Software coding background
- Compiler experience
- Practical experience in deep learning frameworks, architectures, and best practices
- Experience running ML training and inference benchmarks
- Hardware development and semiconductor support experience (board-level debug, power and layout)
- Experience supporting customers, preferably large, tier-one multinational customers
- Prior responsibility driving technical success with customers
- Data center system architecture knowledge (data center networking, acceleration, storage and compute)
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's degree is required, a BS in engineering or sciences is preferred; MBA or a MS in engineering is a plus
