THE ROLE:

We are looking for an engineer with graduate research experience, who can meaningfully contribute to solving very difficult engineering challenges as part of the Cores Advanced Development team. To continue raising the bar on performance, and performance/Watt of our CPU products requires a deep innovation pipeline. The Cores AD team focuses on the areas of power delivery, thermal management, and reliability across all AMD's x86 CPU product portfolio.

 

 

THE PERSON:

We want someone who can think out-of-the-box, with a strong set of fundamentals in silicon engineering and architecture and is motivated to solve extremely challenging engineering problems.  Self-direction and curiosity are key characteristics that will make you successful in this role and learn immensely about critical issues facing future high-performance CPUs.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the long-term roadmap of the Cores Advanced Development team.
  • Data gathering, analysis, and mining.
  • Simulation setup, execution, and driving to conclusive results for making engineering evaluations and critical decisions.  Can span the range from circuit simulation to high-level system simulations.
  • Prototype new designs and design methodologies. 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Expertise in physical design construction and design methodology, from fundamentals of device physics, circuits/gates to SoCs.
  • Experience with industry EDA tools.
  • Expertise in scripting languages for automation (i.e. python).
  • Experience in a self-directed research project.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Ph.D. degree preferred, or an M.S. degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
