When you join AMD, you'll discover the real differentiator is our culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world's most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.  Together, we advance your career.

THE ROLE

AMD is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Validation Lead to join the Data Center GPU Customer Engineering organization, driving System Validation Manual (SVM) development and leading end‑to‑end customer-centric validation for AMD Instinct platforms. This role ensures that AMD GPU systems are deployable, operable, and robust in real customer environments, bridging the gap between reference validation and the complexities of deployment at MDC, cloud, and enterprise scale. You will guide validation strategy, architecture, and execution across single-node and multi-node systems, ensuring coverage across customer automation, OS/kernel stacks, BMC/AMC manageability, RAS, ROCm/BKC combinations, platform features, and rack-level behaviors. You will partner deeply with internal engineering teams and customer programs to detect issues early, drive systemic fixes, and improve readiness signals for deployment.

THE PERSON

The ideal candidate brings deep system‑level technical expertise, strong leadership presence, and a customer‑inside mindset. You excel at defining validation scope, building scalable test infrastructure, mentoring engineers, and interpreting system risks at scale. You are comfortable owning ambiguous customer integrations, guiding cross‑functional debug, and shaping release‑gating criteria. You thrive in fast‑moving environments where variability shifts up the stack (automation, orchestration, manageability, firmware flows), and you are passionate about ensuring customer deployment success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead SVM strategy & development for the System Validation Manual (SVM) for single-node and multi-node systems as the authoritative customer‑facing validation collateral.
  • Ensure SVM aligns with AMD's feature enablement table, customer-facing tools, platform collateral, and system‑integration workflows.
  • Drive internal regression (“pipe‑cleaning”) using customer‑intended content to catch integration issues before customer exposure.
  • Architect SVM test content derived from “customer‑inside” principles — real customer recipes, automation, BKC/ROCm stacks, sequencing, FW update flows, and operational paths.
  • Lead system‑level validation across customer automation, OS/kernel stacks, BMC/AMC manageability, RAS, ROCm/BKC combinations, platform features, and rack-level behaviors
  • Validate customer deltas from reference platforms and ensure deployment resilience.
  • Drive Debug Leadership & Issue Resolution
  • Lead cross‑functional debug spanning GPU, CPU, NIC, switch, firmware, orchestration, and customer automation layers.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to root‑cause complex failures arising only in real customer or multi-node environments.
  • Identify latent failures via deep pre‑emptive health checking and layered automation.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert and thought leader across Customer Engineering department
  • Shape validation requirements, release gates, and risk acceptance models across the organization.
  • Mentor junior engineers in debug methodology, test architecture, system integration, and customer‑focused engineering.
  • Use AI tools to improve productivity in day‑to‑day tasks, such as data analysis, test automation, and documentation.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Strong background in system‑level validation for complex datacenter platforms (CPU/GPU/NIC, firmware, OS, orchestration).
  • Hands‑on experience with: Linux OS internals, kernel tuning, drivers, ROCm, BMC/AMC, manageability protocols, Redfish, telemetry, Cluster orchestration, rack integration, networking
  • Virtualization (KVM, Hyper‑V, VMware), bare‑metal flows
  • Expertise in test plan architecture, debug methodologies, and multi-domain system validation.
  • Proficiency in Python and one or more scripting languages (Bash, Perl, etc.).
  • Experience with large‑scale automation, CI, regression, and health‑check architectures.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and mentor engineers.
  • Strong communication skills, including customer‑facing technical leadership.
  • Experience with similar customer‑facing collateral, validation/debug lead/architect role is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts, frameworks, or applications.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in system validation, platform bring‑up, or customer‑facing engineering roles
