About the Role

We have an opportunity for a Environmental Advisor to join our team based at the Huntly Bauxite Mine. 

This is a site-based role located within driving distance of Perth, providing you with the opportunity to develop your career close to home! You will work on a 7:7 roster (7 days on, 7 days off) 10.3 hours per day. This is a DIDO position so you get to go home every night to spend more time with friends and family.

Reporting to the Site Environmental Superintendenthe Environmental Advisor is part of the WA Mining Environment Team and is accountable for the co-ordination and implementation of a range of environmental management and monitoring programs, including: -

  • Implementation of the EMS, environmental monitoring, and data management

  • Providing environmental advice

  • Enforcing environmental standards

  • Auditing and reporting

  • Environmental consultation across a range of environmental aspects including mine rehabilitation, water supply and quality, noise, dust, pollution prevention, drainage, dieback, dangerous goods, and waste management. 

The Environmental Advisor works both independently and as part of the operations team carrying out and contributing to the development of environmental programs that are capable of achieving the expectations of Alcoa corporate, regulatory bodies and the local community. This is a dynamic role, and you will be spending time daily on compliance assurance activities, supporting the production and maintenance departments to manage environmental risks of the mine site.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • a relevant environmental degree or equivalent

  • ideally, 2-5 years' experience in a similar role in environmental monitoring or management

  • well-developed communication and interpersonal skills

  • energetic team player

  • industry experience is desirable

About the Location

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia and it is the world's second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa's Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA. Bauxite ore from Alcoa's Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia's alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia's aluminium.
