Academy's Merchant Analytics Analyst - Master Data Management Reporting, will manage analytical projects relying on knowledge of our business and data to create analyses that give insight and direction to the business. This role requires top level, polished communication to not only deliver data, but also to provide an answer to the business problem and to give the data/analysis context. Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a quantitative field

Work Experiences:

  • 3 – 5 years in advanced analytical role, preferably in a professional services or analytics environment

Skills:

  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a passion for digital analytics and working with data
  • Experience with retail, data mining and relational database concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Excellent data storytelling and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with test design and execution
  • Must demonstrate strong capability in at least one technical discipline
  • Detail-oriented, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated with ability to complete projects from request to presentation
  • Ability to make strategic recommendations based on analysis results to a non-analytical audience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to disseminate complex analysis into actionable insights
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and work under tight timelines
  • Sense of usability and user experience design
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, SQL
  • Experience with Databases, Reporting, and Data Visualization solutions (such as MicroStrategy and Google Big Query)
  • Experience with Oracle Retail, Python (preferred)

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly scope and deliver on an analytical ask from the Merchandise Planning & Allocation team.
  • Produce easy-to-understand, error-free, timely oral and written deliverables including dashboards and reports for key business indicators. Work iteratively to refine solution as needed
  • Provide support to MP&A team for standard and customized report needs and translate business needs into well-defined analytics efforts
  • Assist with development of methodology to define common, consistent approaches and standards for MP&A reporting
  • Work independently and with teams to deliver results and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Participate in developing analytically sound solutions
  • Leverage trends, methodologies, and best practices within analytics
  • Build strong relationships across multiple disciplines and teams (Planning, Merchants, Private Label, Merchant Support, IT etc.)
  • Provide training, technical, functional, or retail knowledge leadership to other Team Members, where appropriate
  • Execute testing/validation for reporting components of assigned projects
  • Develop a thorough understanding of and follow Academy's policies, procedures, and safety rules
  • Duties may change; team member may be required to perform other duties as assigned

Specific Roles:

Master Data Management Reporting

  • Works with IT BI team to identify and capture necessary data elements to track milestones of item creation/enrichment up to confirmation of online display.
  • Develops and manages reporting to capture, prioritize and measure enrichment intake.
  • Develops and manages reporting to accurately convey completion of item creation, enrichment, website merchandising and online display long with exception reporting to isolate/diagnose failures, anomalies.
  • Develops and manages reporting to help measure item data quality.
