The position has responsibility for maintaining adequate inventory levels for all surgical/house instrumentation/trays and supplies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Current HSPA or CBSPD certification.
EXPERIENCE:
1.Sterile processing experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Graduate of a vocational or college Central Sterile processing program.
EXPERIENCE:
1.One (1) year of sterile processing experience.

1. Responsible for printing, verifying and assembling the Perioperative Surgical schedule daily.
2. Coordinate Perioperative room instrument and equipment needs utilizing Perioperative surgical schedule as directed in collaboration with dept. Supervisor and/or OR leadership team.
3. Coordinates suitable substitutes for specific instrumentation.
4. Coordinates room needs based on specific physician needs.
5. Guides and assists Central Sterile and OR technicians in performing daily activities.
6. Responsible for the daily maintenance of sterilization records.
7. In accordance with departmental policy and procedure inspects, assembles and sterilizes all surgical and house instrumentation used throughout WVU Medicine.
8. Accurately restocks case carts with supplies, instrumentation and equipment as indicated by surgeon preference cards generated from daily surgical schedule.
9. Accurately restocks Surgical Services including the Outpatient Services and Labor & Delivery supply, specialty carts and top track.
10. Stages and delivers case carts, stocking carts and equipment via clean cart lift, clean or services elevator as needed.
11. Inventories and maintains adequate levels of all instrumentation and sterile supplies utilized throughout University Healthcare.
12. Responsible for receiving returned items including properly recording and returning items to inventory.
13. Responds to instrument and equipment requests from physicians.
14. Serves as initial contact for physicians and Perioperative staff to coordinate solutions to instrumentation problems.
15 .In accordance with set policy and procedure reports and records missing and/or damaged instrumentation/equipment.
16. Serves as initial contact for departmental inquiries from customers.
17. Assists in the training and development of new employees.
18. Assists other Central Sterile Instrument Technicians with daily assignments.

1. Must meet Department of Labor's MEDIUM duty standard (MEDIUM WORK- exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly).
2. Able to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for an 8-12 hour shift.
3. Must be capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and pushing loaded carts weighting in excess of 200 pounds.
