Description

1. Performs the duties of Switchboard Operator:
o Consistently utilizes standard greeting for all Internal and External calls.
o Promptly and courteously answers questions from the public and transfer calls to appropriate extension.
o Alerts Information Systems of any Telephone malfunctions and alarms
o Check Communication Email in box at least once per shift and respond back to appropriate party.
o Work space area is kept clean and orderly before and after shift
o Actively updates and maintains Main List. Makes changes to On Call Sheet if necessary.
o Knowledgeable of Answering Service Procedures, including daily faxing of information to appropriate offices.
o Accurate use of Communication log book.
2. Coordinates requests for Auxiliary aides and services to ensure effective communication
o Knowledge of process to secure On site ASL & LEP Interpreters
o Knowledgeable of various "Effective Communication " devices and services and how to access as needed
o Knowledge of how to access Interpreter Calendar and how to read appointment details
o Able to answer TTY and relay operator calls
o Respond and document Alerts in Communication email box for Effective Communication needs.
3. Emergency Response
o Assists with accuracy of Code Manual in relation to current policies
o Knowledgeable of Smart Notice Notification System
o Able to readily access procedures for Command Center Activations
o Able to readily access procedures for The Joint Commission Surveys
o Able to readily access procedures for STAT C-sections, STEMI's, Stroke Team and Trauma Team Activations.

Requirements

Experience Minimum Required
• Medical office practices/front desk representative with multi-line phone experience.
• One year multi-line telephone/switchboard Experience.
• Ability to understand and execute complex written and verbal instructions and remain calm in emergent or stressful situations.
Experience Preferred/Desired
• Switchboard/multi line phone experience in a hospital or medical facility.
• Call Center experience or dispatch experience desired.
Education Minimum Required
• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Able to multitask.
Special Skills Preferred/Desired
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Scheduling Skills
