The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management. S/he is responsible for quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism. Also, directs, coordinates and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
A Nurse Clinician II in Medical Oncology is responsible for the care of oncology patients requiring chemotherapy and related treatments. They also serve as infusion nurses for non-oncology patients requiring antibiotics, blood products and supportive IV/IM/SQ treatments. A Nurse Clinician II is required to complete yearly mandatory competencies, any unit specific competencies that are identified by the Nurse Manager as it relates to the patient population of this unit as well as completion of the Nurse Clinical Ladder requirements which include: Assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, PI Activity or participation in at least one hospital committee, communicates information to Nurse Manager and co-workers from unit or hospital based committee, workshop, or Nursing Article, provides documentation of attendance for programs to receive CEU, CME, or ANA approved hours, routinely solicits and validates patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review for unit and develops bulletin board or poster that provides educational information to staff/patients/family members.
Associates or Diploma Program of Nursing Required.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
RN - Registered Nurse License - State of Maryland
BLS - Basic Life Support Certification
CB - Code Blue Certification
Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification must pass Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course within 6 months from start in the department in order to administer chemotherapy
Minimum Work Experience
Practicum experience from accredited hospital or Collegiate School of Nursing is acceptable. Orientation in this facility will enable beginning practitioners to assume beginning responsibilities.
Skills: Nursing process, team leading, beginning management functions, and certification as required for the position.
