Position Summary: The Ambulation Assistant, under the direction of the Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing, is responsible for providing mobilizing activities, direct patient care as defined in the Department of Nursing Division philosophy, goals and objectives. The primary function is to enable individuals to achieve their maximum level of mobility, while maintaining their safety and well-being through the direction/assignment of the Charge Nurse and/or RN/LPN.
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent (GED). Certified Nursing Assistant Program (Maryland Licensed School/Training Program) required.
Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the Maryland Board of Nursing required. Certain positions require additional licensure. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Experience: Six months successful experience as a Nursing Assistant, Therapy Aide or similar experience in a clinical are in a general hospital or long term care facility preferred.
Skills: Patient physical mobility, monitoring skin and physical safety, patient comfort, monitoring blood pressures.
*MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK ADDITIONAL HOURS OR VARYING SHIFTS TO MEET THE OPERATIONAL NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT.
