Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the System Director, Support Services over our Environmental Services and Patient Transportation teams.

 

The System Director Support Services has 24/7 responsibility for the operational and financial management, and improvement, of all UChicago Medicine system locations (acute & non-acute) environmental services and patient transportation operations and activities including people, equipment, technologies, and new site launches. Leads the development, implementation, and continual improvement (PDCA) of the associated standard processes and standard work for the Hospital System.  Fosters a team culture of continual, daily, improvement through structured lean and problem solving concepts and tools to maximize efficiency and productivity across the Hospital System.  Assures the department delivers outstanding service to all sites of care.  Leads development and execution of operations strategy and participation in cross department planning and business management activities including Value Analysis Teams, MDI huddles, project planning and review meetings, Policy development, HICS events, and E4 (kaizen) events.   Presents and participates in industry forums and conference to share knowledge, highlight UCM accomplishments, and to remain abreast of current trends, opportunities and business environment.

 

While this position is primarily located in Hyde Park, there is intermittent travel to Harvey and our other ancillary locations such as Tinley Park, Cal City, and Flossmoor.  

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the operational and financial management of the health system support services operations and activities including people, equipment, technologies, new site launches, and problem management with daily continual improvement.
  • Lead the transformation and continual improvement (PDCA) of the associated standard processes and standard work for the Hospital System, planning and executing against the Support Services system vision.
  • Participation in cross department planning and business management activities including Value Analysis Teams, MDI huddles, project planning and review meetings, Policy development, HICS events, and E4 (kaizen) events.
  • Presents and participates in industry forums and conference to share knowledge, highlight UCM accomplishments, and to remain abreast of current trends, opportunities and business environment. Self-development and growth.
  • Performs other duties as requested by senior management.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's required in business, operations, or related field, Master's degree preferred.
  • Certifications such as CMIP (Certificate of Mastery in Infection Prevention), CHESP (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional), CSCT (Surgical Suite Cleaning Trainer) a plus. 
  • Eight+ (8+) years' experience leading support services (Environmental Services and Patient Transportation) in a health care setting.
  • Sound knowledge of health care administration with skills of business acumen, strategic planning, organizational assessment, highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills and quantitative analytic abilities.
