As the LIS (Laboratory Information Systems) Analyst – Specialist, you will function as a top level technical contributor with expertise in particular business processes responsible for formulating systems scope and objectives relative to the organization's business plan and industry requirements. This position will act independently or as a member of a project team responsible for providing technical guidance concerning the business implications of the various systems. The LIS Analyst also provides technical consulting on complex projects, devises and/or modifies procedures to solve the most complex technical problems related to computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.  Creates detailed specifications from which programs will be written.  May have quality assurance responsibilities. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Analyze business and user needs
  • Formulate system scope and objectives relative to business plan and industry requirements
  • Provides technical guidance on complex projects (EPIC, Sunquest, Sunquest CoPath, Histotrac, 4Medica, Lattice, Telcor QML, Teg Manager, Sysmex WAM, Roche DI, Ventana, Cytovision, GemWeb and Haemonetics BloodTrack)
  • Devise procedures to solve complex business problems given constraints
  • Create detailed program specifications
  • Document requirements
  • Revising existing (problematic) system logic
  • Evaluate most business implications of technology on the current business environment
  • Mentors less experienced Business System Analysts

Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree, computer science or business or equivalent relevant certification in healthcare, business management or information systems is required.
  • Minimal of 2 years' experience with information system software solutions.
  • EPIC Inpatient Orders or EPIC Beaker certifications strongly preferred.
  • Strong functional IT, general management consulting, organizational realignment, and business background.
  • Expertise with tools and concepts of process improvement is desired, including the following: methods analysis, work sampling, statistical analysis, financial analysis, and systems analysis.
  • Solid grounding in information systems, understanding not only general strategy drivers, but also detailed industry-specific issues, as well as the linkage between user needs and system enablers.
  • Experience defining requirements and software development methodologies.
  • Ability to prioritize, organizes, and assesses work in order to meet deadlines and to cope in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of working well in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and successfully interacting with others at all levels of the organization, including remote teams.
  • Proven skills in problem solving.
  • Experience in business process mapping.
  • Ability to plan and facilitate meetings with diverse participants.
  • Ability to correlate between business, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple requests, tasks, and requirements.
  • Solid interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills.
  • Experience developing presentations for project work.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in both normal and pressure situations.
  • Healthcare-focused operational experience in business or clinical operations, Healthcare research or Healthcare teaching desired.
