Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Clinic Nurse II (RN) with our Dermatology Clinic at our main Hyde Park location. In this role you will partner with the rest of the clinical team to provide patients the highest quality of care. 

 

Under the direction of an Attending Physician or a licensed independent practitioner, the Clinic Nurse II (RN) provides technically complex and high-risk nursing care services to patients which may include one or more of the following categories: sedation, intravenous infusions, complex procedures, e.g., lumbar puncture, cardiac catherization; This may also include specialized monitoring during procedure and recovery phase; The RN may have Charge Nurse responsibility for his/her assigned unit.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPAA legislation
  • Performs a variety of clinical and research procedures with efficiency and high standards of quality; assures that the proper protocol is used for each sedation
  • Provides patient care in a compassionate and empathetic manner; demonstrates knowledge of age-specific considerations in the provision of care
  • Involves a multidisciplinary team as needed to support patient and family psychological, social and spiritual needs
  • Accurately completes required patient assessment, documentation, and interpretations for each patient encounter
  • Performs scribing duties during clinic visits and procedures
  • Coordinate, set up and assist with in clinic procedures and surgeries
  • Possesses sound professional judgment for timely physician intervention as needed
  • Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate actions, initiates appropriate life supporting interventions while communicating appropriately with physicians
  • Maintains nursing equipment and work areas in proper working condition; reports malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to the appropriate person
  • Performs all required Quality Assurance testing as indicated or as required by UCMC
  • Rotates to clinical areas as directed to assist in safe staffing ratios; utilizes resources to safely transport sedated patients to an appropriate or designated area within the UCMC

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Registered Nurse with a current Illinois license
  • Graduate of a National League for Nursing accredited School of Nursing with BSN 
  • BLS Certification
  • One year of RN experience
