Job Description This role has multiple levels, open to candidates with 3 to 5 years minimum experience in UX. The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.

U.S. Bank is expanding the User Experience Design Team(UXDesign) in support of our business transformation to a human centric experience. This is no “business as usual” group. In order to succeed, we need people who have high energy and aren't afraid to dive in. We have multiple opportunities open at various levels based on experience as a UX Architect or a Senior UX Architect. This is a great opportunity to bring brilliant digital experiences to our customers in helping to ensure U.S. Bank is central to our customers wherever they go!

Specifically, you will be responsible for planning and designing a consistent experience architecture of our customer facing interfaces and experiences across a spectrum of digital and real-world touchpoints. Partners with business analysts, developers, testers, product owners and compliance specialists to translate requirements into experience architectures. Responsibilities include:

  • Employs a range of human-centered, accessible design techniques, such as conceptual models, personas, user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes, to determine and convey design decisions.

  • Optimizes experience architecture to promote findability and usability, while accommodating technical and business needs/constraints.

  • Reviews artifacts and deliverables from peers to ensure they accurately represent or improve upon the U.S. Bank layout, design and interaction patterns.

  • Accurately interprets how the U.S. Bank brand is applied to interaction modules, screen layouts, style guides, pattern libraries, images, icons and other visual elements.

  • Formally observes user interviews and usability sessions.

  • Works concurrently on multiple tasks or projects in an agile environment.

  • Delivers assets of record, e.g., wireframes, versioned prototypes, flow / process diagrams, etc.

  • Participates in validating code is built as designed during projects (according to brand standards, style guides and pattern libraries).

Examples of Projects include:

  • Consumer Insights - In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a team that owns insights for the consumer segment. This team will be diving into different analytics, including Personalization and AI to create a cohesive and meaningful dashboard for the consumer. Sales and Onboarding Platform Team - In this role, the successful candidate will use research to create wireframes, prototypes and process flows in collaboration with other UXDesign professionals to drive the UXDesign efforts and strategies forward for the optimal customer usability of our digital products. This individual will be up to date on UX architecture trends with a deep working knowledge of mobile and web interface development standards and native system patterns across a variety of digital products.  

  • Interface & Reusability Platform Team – In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a new team that is being built to help drive the digital transformation at U.S. Bank forward. This role will assist and lead the building out of reusable design interfaces that will be used across the UXDesign Team. This individual will work collaboratively with UXDesign professionals and key stakeholder across the organization to drive the design efforts forward. An ideal candidate will have at least 6-8 years of experience in UXDesign Architecture principles and strong experience in UXDesign for Native iOS, Native Android and/or Responsive Web, as well as, connected devices and IoT experience. Ideal candidate will understanding prototyping and motion design principles. Experience managing direct reports is strongly preferred.

Leveling of position will depend on qualifications. Please read below for Basic and Preferred Qualifications of each level.

UX Architect

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience

  • Three to five years of related work experience, such as UX or digital industry

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 4-6 years of experience in UXDesign Architecture principles - including creating wireframes

  • Experience in UXDesign Architecture for Native iOS, Native Android and/or Responsive Web

  • Connected devices and IoT experience

  • Understanding of prototyping and motion design principles, strongly preferred

  • Good knowledge of user experience (UX) best practices, interactive design principles, information architecture and experience architecture

  • Good knowledge of design thinking process and framework, and familiarization with workshop and co-creations

  • Good knowledge of website architecture, interactive design principles, web usability, and online marketing and business needs

  • Familiar with common design software

  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills

  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently

Senior UX Architect

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred emphasis on Service Design, Experience Architecture or Information Architecture), or equivalent experience

  • Five to eight years of related work experience, such as UX or digital industry, with at least one year of team leadership experience


Preferred Skills/Experience 

  • Six to Eight years of experience in UXDesign Architecture principles - including creating wireframes

  • Experience in UXDesign Architecture for Native iOS, Native Android and/or Responsive Web

  • Connected devices and IoT experience

  • Thorough knowledge of user experience (UX) best practices, interactive design principles, information architecture and experience architecture; Service Design knowledge a plus 

  • Thorough knowledge of design thinking process and framework, and familiarization with workshop and co-creations 

  • Thorough knowledge of website architecture, interactive design principles, web usability, and online marketing and business needs 

  • Experience with user-centered design from concept to delivery 

  • Experience/familiarity with CSS and responsive design

  • Familiar with common design software

  • Experience working in a cross-channel environment, including desktop/laptop, mobile, devices and brick-and-mortar locations; internal facing systems experience a plus

  • Experience collaborating with large teams

  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills

  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently
