Consumer Banking Compliance is part of U.S. Bank Corporate Compliance department. It conforms to the company's organization of business lines and corporate staff areas, allowing the Consumer Banking compliance staff to work closely with specific business lines on a daily basis.
The Head of Consumer Compliance is responsible for oversight of all compliance and regulatory aspects of the consumer banking functions, including Mortgage, Consumer Lending, Consumer Banking and Payment Services. Promotes and ensures a robust culture of compliance and ethics within assigned LOBs by (i) establishing clear compliance standards throughout the division/group, (ii) tracking and enforcing the adherence to those standards, (iii) training to ensure awareness of the standards, (iv) assessing and reporting compliance risk on an ongoing basis, and (v) facilitating risk-based testing of compliance with applicable Regulations.
This leader is expected to have a deep understanding of the consumer banking businesses, as well as extensive knowledge of effective risk management. He or she will direct a highly skilled and motivated team to successfully identify and solve business problems at a strategic level for the purpose of mitigating and minimizing losses.
This leader will need to demonstrate extensive regulatory compliance knowledge of consumer banking regulations. He or she will provide regulatory advice on compliance matters, supervise investigation and resolution of compliance issues, and lead efforts to identify compliance opportunities and facilitate solution development. This leader is responsible for the Consumer Banking Compliance team that will participate on product development teams; obtain advice from legal counsel as appropriate, and foster cooperative efforts working with business counterparts; provide compliance guidance of marketing campaigns, vendor and third party review, monitoring activities, examinations and general oversight to ensure regulatory and U.S. Bank compliance policies and requirements are achieved. They will collaborate with business line management to develop corrective action plans and monitor progress; participate on implementation teams for new or changed regulations, influence and approve business processes and procedures to ensure they are structured to effectively mitigate risk. Overall responsibility for the completion of enterprise compliance risk assessments.
- BA/BS degree required experienced compliance professional with a minimum of 15 years consumer regulatory compliance, compliance examination experience, or equivalent levels of skill or knowledge
Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with peers and senior management
Significant functional knowledge in compliance with proven ability to interface with subject matter experts
Excellent decision maker with ability to manage multiple tasks with a demonstrated ability meeting commitments and balancing competing priorities
Experienced in long-term and future planning resource requirements and leveraging available resources (both internal and potentially external consultants) to execute on work plan
Self-motivated individual that demonstrates initiative, flexibility, adaptability, and reliability
Highly organized, extremely detail and control orientated
