The Senior Procurement Specialist - Plastics, drives the execution of sophisticated category strategies encompassing multiple sites vital to continuously improve the assigned categories of spend. Collaborates with a cross-functional team of sourcing, operations, technical, finance and other key partners to prioritize sourcing initiatives, develops sourcing strategies, negotiates contracts, supports spend migration from incumbent to preferred suppliers, and manages preferred supplier relationship.

Develop category strategies to deliver performance in annual cost savings, supplier rationalization, supply chain risk management, assurance of supply, supplier performance and new product introductions.

A day in the Life:

  • Crafts a multi-year efficiency funnel that delivers 3-5% year over year net productivity.
  • Selects & develops a strong supplier base to support multiple division strategies.
  • Manages performance of suppliers via SBRs and scorecards.
  • Works with Divisions, BU's and Sites to implement sourcing strategies.
  • Is the primary contact for suppliers.

Keys to Success:


  • Bachelor's degree required; area of study in Engineering, Finance, Business, or Life Sciences preferred.


  • 5+ years' experience in direct material category management/sourcing.
  • 5+ years supply chain or technical operations experience with growing responsibility preferred.
  • Experience working within a large matrixed environment preferred.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant year over year result

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • General knowledge of basic Project Management Tools – project plans, timelines, risk assessments, etc. Project Management certification a plus.
  • 6 Sigma/Lean training a plus.
