The availability and resiliency of the computing and infrastructure environments are critical to enabling the execution of the missions of the Church. This is a contract position that provides the intermediate and more complex support functions to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the storage environment. This position works on assigned tasks to design and build the Storage platforms that enable the Church to provide applications in a highly available, cost-effective way. This position utilizes storage technologies to document, configure, implement, and troubleshoot current and future solutions. This role is also designed to provide key operational and design feedback to product management to allow for service improvement. As a member of the broader engineering team, the incumbent works with minimal supervision and direction and is expected to utilize experience and industry best practices to solve problems for diverse customer requirements.

Respond to and troubleshoot incidents/service requests (add/move/change/decommission)
Participate in P1 review meetings
Create problem records
Perform audit tasks as directed by management
Configure equipment to design specifications
Device and software maintenance and upgrades
Design, document, implement and validate changes to the storage environment
Utilize automated tools
Provide recommendations and operational feedback for improvement of management tools
Design and evaluate proof of concept
Document test plan
Execute test plan for final solution
Create bill of materials
Configure and modify equipment
Prepare cut-sheet and installation instructions
Stage equipment for implementation
Add Systems monitoring points
Receive training from the engineering functions
Perform system health checks
Administer storage access
Maintain systems management tools
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
5+ years enterprise experience
3+ years of relevant experience in storage operations, storage design, storage integration with other infrastructure components, and systems management
Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:
Ability to troubleshoot complex problems
Training and experience in one or more storage technologies, including file (NetApp, Oracle ZFS), block (EMC, Hitachi, Dell), and data protection (Tivoli Storage Manager, CommVault, Data Domain)
Skilled in a majority following areas: Windows/Linux/Unix, Storage (NFS & Block), x86 Platform, Virtualization, Data center infrastructure, and High availability
Skilled in at least one of the following areas: File Storage, Block Storage, Storage Area Network (SAN) management and design, Data Protection (backup), Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery technologies
Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
Ability to think creatively around traffic analysis and quality of service
Understanding of IT business functions and enterprise process governance
Experience in designing, implementing, configuring, and administrating at least one of the technologies listed above
Solid understanding of storage management tools
Strong understanding of servers, virtualization, operating systems, routing, switching and firewall principles and concepts
This job operates in a professional office environment
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment
Required to lift up to 50 pounds as well as bending, stooping, reaching, and grasping
Specific Degrees, Certifications, Licenses:
Technical certifications preferred (NFS, Block)
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
