JOB TITLE: Row Crop Team Leader

REPORTS TO: Row Crop Manager

LOCATION:   Alden, Iowa 


HOURS:    Full-Time


The mission of the Row Crop Team Leader is to support the overall goals of the row crop team and row crop manager.  This role involves strong involvement in daily operations.  The ability to be successful in a team-centered, supportive work environment is a must.  


  • Provide team leadership on projects assigned by the row crop manager
  • Act as a point of contact for team member questions regarding projects or daily tasks
  • Identify key tasks and projects that need completed and communicate those to the row crop manager
  • Understand equipment, fields, and logistic constraints to maximize equipment and people utilization
  • Coordinate with Manager on priority of work to be completed
  • Focus on daily continuous improvement
  • Be able to problem solve on front line issues involving equipment maintenance, coordination of repairs, farm logistics
  • Verification of all operational activities.  Assist Row Crop Manager in developing and monitoring SOP's on key processes
  • Assist in maintenance and operation of all bin sites
  • Train employees on operation of both agricultural machinery and shop processes


  • Experience in row crop production
  • Ability to advise team members on multiple different projects simultaneously
  • Thorough knowledge of the row crop best practices
  • Experience in leading people in a team environment
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills with the ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Ability to effectively manage one's own time and the time of others in a fast paced environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Self-starter who is detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a high pressure environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine correspondence such as professional letters, reports, memos, or emails
  • Ability to calculate figures, percentages, utilize basic concepts of algebra to recognize discrepancies
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality
  • Highly detail oriented
