I. Job Summary

The inside contractor salesperson works directly with contractors and consumers building major projects by assisting them through sales and service of our products while in the store. This is a professional level position requiring independent judgment, a high degree of building material knowledge and estimating skills. Organizational and management skills are needed to handle budgeting, paperwork, customer, and office activity. Requires ability to interact well via phone and in person with consumers, management, outside contractor team members and other Stine associates.



II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Must be familiar and in compliance with Stine Policies and Procedures

B. Provide quality customer service daily to all walk-in or phone-in contractor trade.

C. Meet with potential new customers or contractors that bring in their house plans for a material list and provide them with an estimate package. Keep up log on all estimates done with customer name, phone number, etc. Also provide credit application in packet.

D. Provide small job material breakdowns with time schedule permits.

E. Provide advice as to what materials are available to use in new home construction. Also, provide for customers a list of area contractors and subcontractors.

F. Special order materials that we do not keep in stock.

G. Handle contractor and consumer complaints immediately.

H. Review dodge reports and building permits, contact potential customers by phone, set up appointments or send outside contractor salesperson to make contacts. Record contacts made by phone and write brief summary of conversation. Make sure potential customers know that they may call you at any time for advice or prices.

I. Log all job & prospects on the Stine Loop keep them current daily.

J. Review monthly sales reports with outside salesperson and delete jobs that you know are completed.

K. Attend contractor sales meeting with Corporate office when requested

L. Attend contractor appreciation dinners and participate in preparation and clean-up.

M. Share your knowledge of building materials with fellow associates when they need advice or need help.

N. Keep Corporate office personnel advised of competition's prices, etc.

O. Inform Corporate office personnel about any large jobs that we will be providing material on in the near future.

P. Coordinate with shipping clerk and office manager every new job or account, making sure to obtain for them clear directions to the job site and any other pertinent information they may require such as legal description of property, etc.

Job Requirements:


​III. Qualifications

A. Education: Must have a high school degree or equivalent as a minimum requirement.

B. Training and Experience: At least one year experience in the building material industry. Some experience with selling and servicing customers.

C. Job Knowledge: Should have a very good knowledge of the building material trade and estimating skills.

D. Physical Demands: Work requires some physical effort; involves standing, much walking, and medium lifting. (Important: This job is classified I the physical demands section of the job description [Form IV-31] as constant medium work and occasional heavy work. This form must be reviewed with and signed by the applicant.)
