Summary
JOB SUMMARYThe Technical Supervisor's assignments involve the overall responsible for the technical aspects of the assigned area(s). The supervisor serves as a technical expert, solves technical problems of unusual difficulty, develops protocols and instructions for procedures, assures accurate testing and compliance with quality control procedures and regulatory agencies. The position is responsible for staffing, quality control, workflow efficiency, clinical standards, records and report accuracy, inventory and equipment maintenance in the lab section(s) assigned. Supervisors are responsible for making independent decisions, recognizing abnormal results and pursuing appropriate follow-up action. The position must assure efficient utilization of resources and personnel and may assist with the coordination of staffing on evening and/or weekend shifts as warranted. The individual serves as a resource to identify, investigate and monitor concerns when they are identified and serves as a liaison with all levels of staff. Must use own initiative to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines and complete assignments. The supervisor may be asked to be on call as warranted. Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families and visitors range in age from neonate-birth to geriatrics.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology or related area (or must obtain within 24 months).
- MT (ASCP or equivalent registry), HT or HLT (ASCP)
- 5 years clinical laboratory experience (prefer Senior Tech Level experience).
- In-depth technical knowledge of the sections operations.
- Specialty Certification or advanced courses in business or human resources preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
