The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future. We have an immediate need for a Research Scientist to provide onsite support out of Arlington, VA. Responsibilities The DARPA Biological Technologies Front Office is looking for an onsite SETA to support in technical writing, briefing coordination, and general support to office leadership. The candidate will provide technical and administrative support and apply experience supporting R&D or S&T portfolios. Will be responsible for creating technical documents that explain complex ideas to a variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner. Support will also include designing, organizing, writing, and editing technical documents, researching and documenting new and emerging biological technologies, and working with BTO leadership and Program Managers to ensure consistency of message across multiple briefs and documents. Examples of work products include responses to inquiries from DoD Components, Congress, and interested stakeholders; PowerPoint slide decks; technical briefs; and program descriptions. Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style and content and manage updates and revisions to a comprehensive electronic library of technical documentation. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field. Active TS/SCI clearance. 15 years of experience providing expert guidance and analysis on scientific and technological concepts, state-of-the-art, and regulatory requirements specific to BTO programs and technologies. Experience analyzing complex scientific data, literature, and, market reports to identify trends, potential opportunities, and risks. Experience translating technical ideas into graphics and narratives tailored for consumption by various audiences. Support RDocs review and drafting; assist Office Director in reviewing and providing feedback to new program memos and slides. Ability to operate equally as an individual contributor and as a member of a team. Ability to multi-task, prioritize taskings, and meet deadlines. High proficiency with MS Office, project management, and productivity tools. Able to work fully onsite based on client needs. Desired: Experience with Adobe Illustrator or similar graphics programs. Experience supporting DARPA.
