General Scope and Summary
SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a resourceful, results-oriented, integrative self-starter for a role responsible for the management of medical publications, compliant utilization of publications management software, maintenance of publication repository, and development of KPI metric reports. The Senior Manager, Medical Publications in Medical Affairs is responsible for interacting with internal SAGE departments to guide publication plan execution for assigned therapeutic areas (TA) while ensuring compliance with good publication practices (GPP) and scientific merit of medical publications.
Roles and Responsibilities
Actively manage and serve as administrator of electronic publication routing systems (e.g., PubStrat/DataVision/other) to ensure compliant workflow implementation.
Maintain publications repository such that all asset publications are stored correctly and are readily available.
Develop, capture, and disseminate publication KPIs, including interpretation of their impact, by collating and reporting metrics that reflect quality, utility, and user feedback.
Refine, develop, and train others on publication processes, systems, workflows, and SOPs.
Work independently and tackle one-off projects to support the Medical Affairs, Publications team.
Understand and ensure consistent adherence to GPP, ICMJE, Sunshine Act, Pharma Code of Conduct, and other guidance related to post-marketing practices and scientific data communication.
Represent the Medical Affairs, Publications team using a customer service approach at cross-functional team meetings and with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other stakeholders.
Lead/participate in Medical Affairs, Publication's initiatives and activities with the goal of compliant, effective, and efficient implementation of publication tactics.
Communicate regular status updates on publication-related activities to internal and external stakeholders, including leadership and cross-functional teams.
Actively contribute to discussions and share important information with Medical Publications staff and colleagues.
Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Basic Qualifications
Master's degree in a clinical and/or scientific setting.
4+ years of experience in a medical communications agency or biotechnology/pharmaceutical environment including 1+ year of experience in managing medical publications in a highly matrixed organization.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD or PharmD in a clinical and/or scientific setting.
Expertise in publication management tools and systems (e.g., PubStrat/DataVision/other).
Expert working knowledge of publication guidelines/regulations; ICMJE, GPP 2022; Sunshine TOV, Pharma Code of Conduct, CONSORT, etc.
Proven project management, vendor management, and budget management skills required.
Must possess excellent communication and project management skills.
Must be able to actively manage and track complex projects in parallel, structuring the actions of many people toward shared outcomes.
Solutions-oriented self-starter with strong desire to work collaboratively on a cross-functional team
Admin User experience in electronic publication software tools/repository (e.g., PubStrat/DataVision/other).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interpret and present complex medical and scientific data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of pharmaceutical clinical development and product life-cycle management.
Prior women's health, critical care, epilepsy, neurology, and/or psychiatry experience.
