General Scope and Summary

Sage Therapeutics is searching for a resourceful, results-oriented, creative thinker for a role that is responsible for the design and execution of strategic and practical medical education initiatives for products and relevant disease states for both internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Manager, Medical Communications and Education will work with the Director of Medical Education and Training to develop medical communications materials, including slide decks, FAQs, medical symposia, medical booth materials, and digital education resources. The role requires a high level of collaboration with Medical Directors, MSLs, Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance, as well as the hands-on attitude necessary to refine and build medical communication resources.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of the medical communications strategy for zuranolone and major depressive disorder and postpartum depression disease state education.

  • Develop and maintain MSL resources, including but not limited to disease state slide decks, reactive product decks, one-pagers, FAQs, and training slide decks while ensuring materials are consistent with the Global Scientific Platform.

  • Support the creation of non-CME live and virtual medical education programs (e.g., symposia) and medical booth educational resources through collaboration with vendors and internal teams.

  • Contribute to the development of digital, web-based, and mobile optimized materials to enhance online HCP education, while ensuring scientific accuracy, objectivity, fair-balance, and alignment with the medical communications strategy.

  • Assist in the management of multiple vendors to ensure high quality and timely delivery of materials within allocated budget.

  • Manage materials through the internal review and approval process by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and vendor partners.

  • Ensure fair balance and integrity in medical education materials and that materials conform to appropriate regulatory, medical, and legal compliance guidance

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

The successful candidate must be able to take an undefined objective and lead the process through to operational excellence. Must have the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders of various backgrounds and expertise. Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment, as well as a proven ability to achieve results in a virtual setting.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher.

  • 4+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry including 2+ years of experience in managing medical communications efforts in a highly matrixed organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ability to travel (~10%) for scientific congresses as necessary.

  • PharmD or PhD degree preferred.

  • Psychiatry or neuroscience experience preferred.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.

  • Excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and effectively influence, collaborate, and communicate with internal and external partners.

  • An outstanding track record of strong communication, presentation, analytic, and strategic capabilities.

  • US Launch experience preferred.

  • Veeva Vault experience preferred.
